new problem with an old account not allowing access: error 2000

Hello,

I have two separate Chase credit card accounts that I have tracked with Moneydance for years. Today MD asked me for the login credentials for each, which are separate (one belongs to my wife, one belongs to me). My wife's logs in fine, but mine returns a 2000 error code indicating the server denied access. When I called chase, they verified I am successfully logging into the account from the website directly but it indicates that MD is not querying its servers at all. I have deleted and recreated both connections and uninstalled/reinstalled MD (which yesterday gave an indication it had been damaged somehow, but was resurrected with a computer reboot). Ideas?

    Hi Ian,

I forgot to mention that I also had to add:

    ofxVer : 103

to the < site > entry for Chase in each instance of Pocketsense's sites.dat file.

Mixed results. For 3 of 5 accounts I get a message back that says "2003 Account not found" but it appears to have downloaded transactions for 4 of 5 accounts.

Then, moments after I did this I suddenly got the Chase emails to confirm my identity for 2 of 3 logins. The 3rd still had an email from 11/20 which was too old to use.

    Ian,

Thank you for the new version.
I have three Chase accounts, two in my wife's name, and one in mine. My wife's now correctly includes her default user name in the pop up dialog box, and I can download the info from both her accounts.

However, I de-activated my account when I was having trouble with the previous version, and now am unable to authorise it. I go to Online:Setup Online Banking, choose Chase, put in my account details and receive an error message: java.lang.NullPointerException. The subsequent Online Banking Signup page gives me blank choices in the Online Banking and Bill Payment pulldown menus.

Could you please advise if I am doing something incorrectly.

    Thanks.

I tried the new release. I selected the Chase account, then Online > Set Up Online Banking. I selected NEW CONNECTION, and selected Chase. I then entered my username and password and then clicked OK. I then got:

    Error: java.lang.NullPointerException

There was also a window to choose the Bill Payment and Online Banking, but the pop-up window is completely blank.

I updated to the new release, but I'm still getting the error code 2000 message. (I tried typing in a bad password and got a bad password message).

I tried calling Chase again earlier this week and they still were unable to send me the instructions to confirm PFM access (download) on my account. Maybe I'll call them again.

Sad to say, I’ve got the same problem as several others are reporting: when I tried to set up my wife’s account again, after I entered her password, clicked “Next,” got conformation of which account, clicked “Next” I got a Java NullPointerException and after dismissing the error message the next window contained no choices for the account, so I couldn’t continue.

Sorry about that. But it should be reasonably easy to find and fix.

    Hi All,

I created a new blank MD 2015.7 (1326) data set and created 2 Chase Credit Card accounts in it.

Both accounts connected & downloaded as expected.

The current NPE issue may be with MD data sets that were created from prior versions of Moneydance.

I'm on hold with Chase. Now they're telling me that I will receive a new "authorization code" on January 24th (!) and they can't do anything sooner. But they are going to open a ticket for me so someone will call me back.

Also, I didn't put details on what I did. I have my Chase accounts (that don't download), not set up. I try to set one up, either select "Chase" from the menu or search for it. Hit "Next" then select the account from the list. Then it pops up a user name + password. I type my password and get the error 2000 (or if bad password, I get that message).

Kevin: yes I was thinking maybe trying to set up a new data set, but I don't really want to lose all my links (transaction connections). Is there any way to export all that and reimport it that might reset the "bad" parts?

It may well be … but I’m not sure what to do. I did try exporting to a backup archive, creating a new file, and restoring from that backup, thinking that PERHAPS that would make it into a newer-format file. But it didn’t; I think the backup/restore route just brings everything back exactly as it was, and I still got the NPE error.

So … anything to do? Like someone else, I don’t want to create a new file and then go through the hassle of a lengthy export-import process and worrying about links.

    Progress of a sort.

I exported my file into Quicken 2010 format. Then I made a new file and said “convert and import.” Then I tried again with Chase.

This time there was no NPE error. However, I got the Error 2000. I then went to Chase and clicked “Authorize Quicken” and got a message that it was authorized. Tried again, no success, same Error 2000.

Same problem here. I exported my data from the problem account, then re-created the account, but still got the NPE error. Then I found that the imported data had all the dates screwed up, so a big retrograde step!

    Hi J Kwan,

Is there any way to export all that and reimport it that might reset the "bad" parts?

There is an option to Export to MD 2010 format. However, doing so is NOT NON-Destructive.

Any attachments would be lost, any Reminders would need to be recreated. The export process converts them from Transaction Reminders to General Reminders.

All usernames and passwords would obviously need to be reapplied.

I just tested this out and, for me, it did work and both Chase accounts download as expected.

I would suggest however that we all give Ian some more time to do the voodoo that he doodoo. He is seemingly close to resolving this.

The Import / Export may cause other unforeseen issues. Do so at your own risk and peril.

Just received this message from Chase:

"The subject is: Action Required for Quicken or QuickBooks users

Within 7 days of this notice, please sign in to Chase OnlineSM or J.P. Morgan OnlineSM as you normally would. For the best experience please use your desktop computer to do this."

Doing so made no difference; I still get the NPE error.

Incidentally, I exported, then imported all my data from the problematical account. All the dates were screwed up until I realised that it's important to ignore the import date format. I like to use the UK date/month/year format, but I could only accurately import the file by choosing the US format mm/dd/yr. It then correctly displayed them in the dd/mm/yr format in MD. Don't ask why!

Well, my going on line to Chase and activating Quicken (I’d done that half a dozen times before) FINALLY produced an email saying go to their secure email and verify my identity. I did.

My guess is that this means once the NPE problem gets fixed it will start working.

    What does "NPE" mean?

I looked at the Chase Customer Center to "Activate Quicken, Quickbooks etc"
and it shows two options, "Download now (no charge)" and "Activate
Direct Access through the PFM service ($9.95/month)". The first says
you download account activity to a file and then import.

Above all this is a note:
"Quicken users: You can automatically download all your available Chase accounts without having to activate Chase Direct Connect. Simply enter your Chase Online User ID and Password in your Quicken software when we prompt you to do so. To learn more about the Express Web Connect download, visit Quicken.com and search for "Express Web Connect". "

This sounds like a 3rd option and probably the one I/we were using before. I don't want to pay $9.95/month.

On my wife's account, neither of these are checked and her account downloads fine into Moneydance.

(I don't know if these are the "instructions" that Chase has problems sending me).

    Hi Joe,

    NPE = java.lang.NullPointerException

Moneydance does not use Web connect. It uses direct connect.

I could be mistaken but I thought that the $9.95 charge was only directed to business accounts. You might want to call them on that.

    Same thing.

I ran the new MoneyDance and tried to setup online banking for the
Credit Card that didn't work. I got the NPE.....
Almost immediately I got an email from Chase asking me to log in to read
the message that said I needed to verify my account (something that my
wife got weeks ago and her account has been fine).... So logged into
Chase and did it. I then went back to MD and tried again and still got
    the NPE.... :(

I downloaded the new version and everything worked perfectly without any changes to my MD worksheet. The Chase accounts that gave the 2000 error downloaded without a hitch. I had verified (or whatever they call it) the one account that did work previously. Logging into the second doesn’t seem to have generated a separate secure message requesting verification.

I have had this same problem. My wife's Chase account downloaded fine, but mine gives the NPE message. So I downloaded this preview update and gave it a shot. Went in and was able to set up my Chase Visa for download and the download worked.

That was on my iMac. I also have a Macbook Pro that shares the same MD file as my iMac via Dropbox. Tried the same thing there and it works fine too.

Seems a lot of people are still having issues, but it did work for me.

I have tried a number of times after downloading the new version of MD and still get the error 2000 message. I tried this with and without going to the Chase website and clicking on "Allow Quicken downloads" (or however it's worded)

I tried it multiple times and now I'm getting the NPE error.

Maybe another data point, the Chase accounts include Chase Business accounts and personal accounts. For my wife's (which downloads fine), she only has personal accounts. Is anyone getting the 2000 or NPE with only Chase personal accounts? (wondering if Chase is going to push that $9.95/monthly fee for downloads).

My husband and I only have personal reports. He got the verification code a couple f weeks ago and his data can be downloaded into MD. When I try it (multiple times) (with the new version), I get the error 2000 report. I wonder why some people get the 2000 error and others the NPE error.

I think the 2000 error is if Chase hasn't played
you yet. The NPE is if it has and your account file was started a while back.
