new problem with an old account not allowing access: error 2000

Hello,

I have two separate Chase credit card accounts that I have tracked with Moneydance for years. Today MD asked me for the login credentials for each, which are separate (one belongs to my wife, one belongs to me). My wife's logs in fine, but mine returns a 2000 error code indicating the server denied access. When I called chase, they verified I am successfully logging into the account from the website directly but it indicates that MD is not querying its servers at all. I have deleted and recreated both connections and uninstalled/reinstalled MD (which yesterday gave an indication it had been damaged somehow, but was resurrected with a computer reboot). Ideas?

    Kevin,

The script is for Moneydance 2015 only. Older versions don't have the ability to assign more than one client UID in a file, so folks using those versions will only be able to connect with one Chase username per file. Other accounts can be imported by downloaded OFX files, of course.

Finally got my secure message today from Chase to allow me to enable Quicken--after the Python script fix. Originally they said I wouldn't get the message until January 26.

Will this patch be "built-in" to later versions of MoneyDance, or should I keep the file?

    Thanks again!

This script is only useful if you had disconnected your account in the older version of Moneydance 2015 and then had trouble reconnecting in the newer version. The problem shouldn't occur anymore once you've updated and got it working, so there's no need to hang on to the file.

With the latest preview, I did the following steps. When I got to Step 3, I used “Add From File…” and selected reset_clientUID.py as the file.

MD then said Error. “There was an error loading the extension file: java.util.zip.ZipException: error in opening zip file.”

Since this isn’t a zip file, I must be doing something wrong. What should I be doing?

It sounds like you are clicking "Add From File" on the Manage Extensions window. You need to first open the Python extension, and click on the Add button there. That should allow you to continue the process.

My problem was reported in post #74.

I installed the latest update (build 1331, which included some recent bug fixes unrelated to this issue). The first time I tried to connect my wife's account to Chase it failed with error 2000. I ran the Python script per the instructions in post #147 and tried setup again per post #139. That fixed my wife's card account. At first it appeared to have broken my card account--MD couldn't reach the server. But I repeated the Download Transactions command and both accounts worked.

    Many thanks!

I have had a problem with two of my chase credit cards, both under the same account. (My husband's account got the message from Chase asbout activating his Quicken account about a month ago, and has been downloading fine. He got the message twice more about activating within 7 days or loosing access, so I repeated the process each time.)

I am having a problem following the instructions that you gave earlier in this discussion. I opened the register of my account, and installed the Python Interface extension. I opened the Manage Extensions window again, chose Python Interface,, and chose my the file that I created when I backed it up. However, I got a message saying that it couldn't up date it. (See attachment) The name of my file has gotten longer and longer each year, so I thought that perhaps there was some chasracter in the long name, so I changed the name to 2015Moneydance.moneydancearchive to see if that would hello. I got practically the same error.

    Please help. Thanks
    Nancy

I assume this guide is written for the Windows platform because it does not fit a Linux install, specifically step 6 is not an required.  I say this because you do not give the name or location of the file downloaded in step 3 which makes the instruction in step 6 useless.

Anyway I did continue after "installing" the Python Interface option in step 3 but was only able to setup the first Chase account, the second and third failed as always.

So when do you expect to provide a fix for the Linux users with Cahse credit cards?

OK, I think I figured out this issue. For folks who have reset their connections and are still getting the 2000 error, I'm sending a file called reset_clientUID.py should reset the client UID in your file and allow you to connect to all accounts again. Before proceeding, please back up your Moneydance data set, just in case something goes wrong. You can create a backup using the File->"Export Backup" menu option.

To use the file, first save it to your computer and then follow these steps:

    1. In Moneydance, open the register of an account that is unable to connect.
    2. Click on the Extensions Menu and choose the Manage Extensions option.
    3. From the list of available extensions, choose the Python Interface extension, then click Install to download the extension and finish to complete the installation.
    4. Close the Manage Extensions window.
    5. Again, click the Extensions menu. This time, choose the Python Interface option.
    6. In the python window, click the read from file button and load the file from whereever you saved it. You'll get a confirmation message when the script is complete.
    7. Restart Moneydance and then disable and re-enable the connection to each of your Chase accounts. You should get more emails from Chase asking you to confirm your new connection, but all accounts should work.

Hopefully, that will work. If it doesn't, let me know and we'll continue troubleshooting.

    Hi lists5040,

I think that there might some confusion as to what file that you need to access with the Python Interface.

Follow the instructions from Ian's post #147.
    Download 'reset_ClientUID.py'.
    http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/online-banking/1474-new-pr...

Pay careful attention to where you download 'reset_ClientUID.py and remember where you downloaded it to.

After you install the Python Interface and open it, click the 'Read from File' button in the lower right-hand corner of the Python Interface window.

A file browser will open allowing you to navigate to the 'reset_ClientUID.py' file that you just downloaded.

Continue to follow the rest of Ian's instructions.

As always, safe computing 101 dictates that you make sure that you have a copy or backup of your data before attempting any changes.

No, I did not notice the attached file.  So i went back and downloaded the file then installed it as described in step 6.  Unfortunately no difference, I can only setup the first account and no other.  Drat!  Would it matter if my document folder was relocated and not in the default location?

    Great work Infinite Kind!!
