Moneydance supports Automatic downloads through a protocol known as Direct Connect, alas this is generally only available with U.S. based organisations - a U.S. consortium put the specification together.

The organisations that are known to support Direct Connect and that Moneydance has connection information for can be found at:

https://infinitekind.com/fi

Another protocol that is used is Web Connect but this is Quicken proprietary and only available in North America.

For us in the other 190+ countries of the world, there are really no automatic methods at this time. In most countries financial organisations provide the ability to download transaction data in a range of formats, Moneydance has the ability to import data in formats like OFX/QFX, QIF and CSV. Note that in general you cannot import CSV files into Investment accounts.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/480097112020-01-16T17:44:19Z2020-01-16T17:44:19ZABN AMRO

Hi ,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

I can see you’ve received a reply from one of our knowledgeable Moneydance customers.
To add to this useful information I thought it's worth mentioning that currently, Moneydance only supports automatic downloads using Direct Connect. I can confirm that no European banks support this connection method.

By only using Direct Connect, we can guarantee that your username, password and financial data only ever exists with your bank or on your own personal computer, and at no point are your details stored on another server.
You can read more about why we only support this connection type in our blog and also in this article.

Some banks in Europe have recently begun using a service called 'Open Banking', and we are actively looking into adding connectivity to Moneydance. Unfortunately it is not reachable by Moneydance right now because it require a third party service to connect to the bank. We're going to wait until Open Banking allows connections directly from the software running on our customer's devices.

We fiercely believe that your financial information should be secure and only accessible to yourself, your financial institution, and anyone with whom you explicitly choose to share it.

Without Direct Connect, you are still able to easily import your data into the program. For now, the best way to get your files into Moneydance is to use a web browser to download them from your bank's web site.

We'd recommend you use the OFX or QFX file format if either of these are available. If not, use the QIF file format. You can find the steps for manually importing your data in this article.

Moneydance 2019 includes en embedded browser (currently a beta feature) that makes downloading from your banks website much easier. We're also working on another feature (coming soon) that will remember how you download from your banks site and help to automate the manual import process.

Have you already downloaded the trial version of Moneydance? You can download the trial version of Moneydance from our website on this page.
The trial version is fully functional and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions. Imported transactions are not limited, so you'll be able to fully test downloading data from your bank, and importing data from other personal finance software.
If you decide to purchase the program at a later date you can keep all data you have entered during the trial period.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions or need any assistance.
