We've had a few reports about this over the last 24 hours, but nothing major that seems to have affected many people since the last incident in November. We're looking into it, but if a few of you could send your connection logs to support in a new private thread, that would be helpful. Again, don't post your full logs here unless you are certain that you have deleted any private information. Here's how to get the logs:

1) In Moneydance, click on the Help menu in the Moneydance menu bar and select the Console Window option. This will open the console messages window.
2) While the Console Window is open, attempt to connect to your bank. Any error messages should be recorded to the Console.
3) Select all of the text in the Console and use the Copy to Clipboard button at the bottom to copy the text.
4) Paste the text from the message window into a text file (preferably saved with a .txt or .rtf extension) and attach that file to your response here.

Again, the debugging logs that this produces will contain your account information, so I recommend you make sure to delete this information, and start a private thread with this information.

More often than not I get the 2000 error but periodically it will download.

I seem to have resolved it (at least for now) with these steps:

1) Disabling online banking in Moneydance for all my Citi Card accounts.
2) Login to the Citi site and go to:

Profile -> More Settings -> Manage Desktop Apps

Remove access for the Moneydance application.

3) Wait until email confirmation received that it was disabled.
4) Go back to same location on Citi site and Add Access. Timer will start giving 10 minutes.
5) In Moneydance, setup online banking for account but use Advanced Setup with the following:

Name: Citi Credit Card
OFX Institution Org: Citigroup
OFX Institution ID: 24909
OFX Connection URL: https://mobilesoa.citi.com/CitiOFXInterface

6) Rinse and repeat step 5 for any other Citi accounts.

On the Citi site the application will register as Quicken (screenshot attached). When I went to remove the access it was most definitely Moneydance as the product but I did not think to grab a screenshot.

I had tried disabling online banking and setting it up again using the 'Citi Cards' selection from the list in Moneydance but it continued to result in the 2000 error more often than not. Using Advanced Setup as above and I have not received a 2000 error.

Anthonytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/482367762020-04-14T10:11:37Z2020-04-14T10:11:37ZCiti Bank connections

Thank you for sharing this workaround, Anthony!

I would try a complete reset of your online connection to Citibank. From memory, it is important not to reuse the named connection that the program offers, but to make a “new” connection just as if you had never set up Citi Bank before. Hope this helps.

For your information our development team is actively working to find a solution to this issue, so be reassured that you will be informed as soon as a fix is available.

It's interesting to note how the connection started working again for some of you, and I was wondering if you could confirm what version and build of Moneydance you are currently running.

To check, open Moneydance and select Help --> About Moneydance (or Moneydance --> About Moneydance on a Mac) where the version and build number will be displayed.

Lastly, for those of you who wish to try completely resetting your connection to your bank I'm sending a file called 'remove_one_service.py_' that will help do that.

Before proceeding, take a manual backup via File --> Export Backup.

To use the .py file, first save it to your computer and then follow these steps:

In Moneydance, select Window --> Python Scripting (Choose 'MoneyBot' if you're using the 2019 version).

In the window that opens, select 'Open Script' then navigate to the .py file wherever you saved it on your system.

Select 'Run' to execute the file.

You will be asked to select which connection you want to clear. Choose your bank, and click OK. You'll get a confirmation message when the connection has been removed. Close the window when done.

Set up the connection to your bank like normal choosing the "New Connection" button. Since all of your settings have been cleared, you should get the most recent connection information for your bank.

Hopefully, that will work. If it doesn't, please let us know and we'll continue troubleshooting.

Thank you

I definitely get this. Citi gives 10 minutes for MD to connect. Since I have removed the previous connection for this account, I have to go thru setup for online banking on this account. This is what I do while Citi is waiting the 10 minutes. But every time I try to set up I get the 2000 error. So Citi never sees my attempts. As so I remain stuck - perhaps like many. But since you said you managed somehow to get past all this I wanted to make sure I was doing the same as you.
This download problem between Citicard and MD has been happening on and off for a couple of years. I have been able to fix it in the past (multiple tries and days of trying), but what a pain this has become!

I agree that this has been a come/go issue for a while now. It is hard for me to say if it is a MD problem or a Citi problem (or both). All I can say is that compared to Quicken I find MD a far more pleasant experience. It is not like Quicken didn't have problems.

At this point, I am going to try and stop fixating on this issue as I have the last few days. I will hope that MD or Citi takes steps to correct things. Meanwhile, the Citi web site allows you to export transactions easily enough in Quicken format and MD accepts these easily enough. Be careful with the date you use to avoid duplicate transactions (which are easy enough to merge should they happen).

I’m disappointed to see that you give up so easily. Notice that MD’s people are supposedly watching this thread. To see us willing to blame this situation on Citi alone is not accurate. Any bank has the right to change its landing page and it is the responsibility of the financial software to keep up with those page changes and to be aware and nimble enough to to adapt. If MD would rather than kiss off their customers is one thing. If its customers are willing to accept this laziness from MD is something entirely different. Amex, Chase, etc. will be changing their security access soon, what will you do then?

I, for one, expect MD to correct the situation quickly. They know what the problem is, they corrected it a month ago.

Without a new software build there is only a limited amount that TiK can do. The information they do maintain centrally is the connection information, i.e. the basic connection settings that is behind the Bank you pick from the list. You can see the type of information this is by looking at the Advanced Setup option. This sort of information I would expect to either be right or wrong, not something that works today, doesn't work tomorrow, works the next day etc, if there is something wrong or needs updating, updates have been needed in the past, I tend to expect a more consistent type of failure.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/482367762020-05-21T11:00:44Z2020-05-21T11:00:44ZCiti Bank connections

Has there been a resolution to this yet? It may be that MD cannot fix this without a new release. But in the recent past with exactly the same symptoms (cannot say anything about the actual problem), this got fixed without a new release or patch or anything like that. From that I have to presume the issue is either with Citi OR with some configuration parameters for getting at/interacting with the server at Citi. No idea which.

Once again, at least we can go to the Citi website and export transactions and shoot them into MD. It appears that the first time you do this you should expect duplicate transactions that must be merged. But for me, after that this has not been an issue. Only a few days trial though. Is this as convenient or as expected - NO. Is it a viable work-around until this gets fixed - possibly.

whitedavidptag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/482367762020-05-21T16:38:36Z2020-05-21T16:38:36ZCiti Bank connections

Same problem here.

Go to Citibank CC account and chose "Set up Online Banking"

Choose "New Connection" and then select "Citi Cards"

Going through the setup you'll be prompted to visit https://citi.com/datamanagement

Make sure you are logged out of Citibank before going to that URL.

Citibank did kindly put in a tech research ticket to help see if more could be done, but all evidence points to MD. Something changed somewhere. I don't think MD has had any recent updates, so likely something in their code/interface is not compatible with security/network enhancement on Citi Card side. How about an update??? A little more than simple a telling us a case has been opened. I find it very difficult to manage all of the duplicate transactions when I manually download. Please let your customers know where you are on this issue, a description of the issue, and what you are doing correct it. Some communication would really help.

donnatag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/482367762020-05-25T15:09:05Z2020-05-25T15:09:05ZCiti Bank connections

An update for what it's worth. I am still running Quicken 2018 in parallel to MoneyDance, I just switched to MoneyDance in April of this year and my Quicken subscription runs out at the end of May.

Quicken continues to download from CitiCards just fine with no issues. Same account number and account, etc. as is setup in MoneyDance 2019.3 (Linux)

I am able to download a QFX file from the Citi Card account site and import it fine to Money Dance. Hope this gets fixed. Doesn't seem to be any formal response to the issue that I've seen.

dm_corsatag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/482367762020-05-25T21:50:19Z2020-05-25T21:50:19ZCiti Bank connections

I'm not from IK Support, but They have actually replied a couple of times recently; Maddy posted a response on 5/22 (this thread) and Ethan posted on 2 other Citi Links to redirect users to this one.

I'm sorry for the very late update on this. I've checked on Moneydance and it's connection to Citi's servers and nothing I've tried on my side has had an effect. I've exchanged a few messages now with the Citi team and they are looking into it. I'll post back here as soon as I hear back, which I do expect to be soon as they've been very responsive in the past.

Thanks,
All was fine then MD just stopped connecting.
On the Citibank app management site the usual process to add Moneydance as a trusted application is that the attempt to download causes Moneydance to appear on the citibank site for you to approve. Currently when trying this MD does not appear at all and the timer continues. Makes me think MD is blocked at the firewall.

jamdotag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/482367762020-05-27T05:28:16Z2020-05-27T05:28:16ZCiti Bank connections

Sean Reilly...Please push a notification to us when resolved,

rustytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/482367762020-05-27T12:43:02Z2020-05-27T12:43:02ZCiti Bank connections

I am having the same problem - I cannot download Citi credit card transactions through MoneyDance. I just got off the phone with Citi Tech Support...and she said that they had made a conscious decision to ONLY support Quicken and Quickbooks, They no longer will support MoneyDance or other desktop software (via OFX)...and she said this was likely a permanent situation (not temporary).

This flys in direct opposition to what Sean reported a few hours ago. I hope Sean has the real truth here, and that Tech Support just has bad info.

Statements about support can be misleading. At an extremely level it could mean that they will take action that would mean only Quicken and Quickbooks can connect and download data - read restrictive trade practice, anti-competitive behaviour etc.

At another level it could mean that support would only actively help Quicken/Quickbooks users to try and resolve a problem - although one suspects they would be keen to refer you to these companies.

At a base level it could well mean they will have a couple of scripts to lead you through basic setup and some common problems, beyond that they refer you on.

In all cases it could well just give them an out for the support call i.e we only support XYZ, thanks for calling and end the call, case closed.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/482367762020-05-30T10:14:39Z2020-05-30T10:14:40ZCiti Bank connections

Thank you for tracking down the issue with Citi.
I've been in direct contact with the OFX server team at Citi and they've confirmed the fix will be deployed on Tuesday.

As for Quicken, they are generally using a different kind of connection these days - one which routes logins and transactions through their own servers. That's something Moneydance will not be doing for both security and privacy reasons.

We've unfortunately heard many reports of this issue with Citi connections over the weekend. It looks like they've changed something on their end again, and we'll try to figure out what that is and make contact with them.

I think we have enough connections logs at the moment, but if you want to send yours as well, please open up a new private thread on our website to send them. Please do not post your connection logs to this thread.

We'll post any updates about this here when we have them. In the meantime, using manual downloads like you all did for the last round of this is the current workaround.
