Suddenly today the exact same bogus transaction is being downloaded into one of the checking and the credit card. This transaction also downloaded into the other checking but it is a legitimate transaction for that account.

I have triple checked online at the Chase website and the transactions in question are definitely NOT SHOWING there. In a way, this a good because I know that there has been no monkey business with the two accounts in question.

But this means that there is something wrong either with the download from Chase or in MD.

I have tried deleting the bogus transactions from MD. But the come right back on the next download.

What to do? Thanks

whitedavidptag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/483551572020-05-22T19:02:12Z2020-05-22T19:02:12ZBogus Transactions From Chase

Hello,

To clarify, it sounds like this is a legitimate transaction, but should be only in one of the checking accounts, and instead is showing up in all three accounts? Let me know if I've misunderstood the situation.

Does the transaction appear exactly the same in all of the accounts? Sometimes this can happen if the transaction is downloaded and initially given a category of one of the other accounts, which will treat the transaction as a transfer between the accounts. You would then see the 'other side' of this transaction in the account the transfer is being made to. Correcting the category field in the proper checking account should remove the transaction from the second account.

It turns out your theory was not correct. I ended up re-setting the online banking for all 3 of my wife's Chase accounts and now all is fine. So something may have gotten confused in there.

I have, as are many others, had problems (still am actually) with CitiCards. So I have been in/out of online banking setup trying to fix it (without success). In doing, I used a python script posted here https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/online-banking/16229-how-to-completely-remove-online-banking-connection for removing one online connection. I did this to the CitiCards connection only. But perhaps in so doing it messed up other things?

At any rate, things are no ok.

whitedavidptag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/483551572020-05-22T20:11:35Z2020-05-22T20:11:35ZBogus Transactions From Chase

I'm glad to hear things appear to be sorted out with the Chase accounts. Resetting the connections was going to be my next suggestion, although I thought it was worth trying to figure out what was happening with that one transaction first. Usually when something like this happens, it's that all of the transactions from one account are going to an incorrect one. Having just one transaction do this suggests something else was happening. However, if it's sorted out now, let's just be happy that it's working, and let us know if the issue reemerges.

We are still working on the Citi issue, but it seems like they've changed something major on their end, as I'm sure you've read on the other support threads. We're recommending people manually download their accounts for the time being while we try to figure out what's happening.

I am aware that MD is at work on Citi. Thanks. I have been using manual download for now and posted suggesting others use that route for now. Cheers

whitedavidp
