A communication or parsing error occurred
I work for a bank and have had two customers report to me today that the attached is what they get when trying to connect to the bank (Citizens and Farmers Bank; www.cffc.com). Please advise.

Hi Matt,
Thanks for your message. It seems that the SSL/TLS certificate used to sign the CFFC certificate has changed to something that is not recognised. We'll inspect the certificate and update it in Moneydance.
One potential issue though is that the URL to which Moneydance is set to connect is https://ofx1.evault.ws/ofxserver/ofxsrvr.dll which seems odd in that the top level domain name (.ws) is normally for domains registered in the country of Samoa. This obviously seems a bit worrisome why a behind-the-scenes web service would be using a Samoan-registered domain name. I assume this was a decision from FIServ who seems to be your bank's OFX service provider, but it might be worth bringing up the issue with them.
Thanks!

Thanks, Sean. When will this be resolved on your end so we can test? I will reach out to our Fiserv team who manages the ofx domain as well.

Hi Matt,
We have updated the certificate, and the preview version of Moneydance should allow users to connect to Citizens and Farmers Bank successfully. You can download it here - http://infinitekind.com/preview
Please advise if you encounter further issues or need any assistance.

I will have Mr. Drummond try this but why does it not work with his 2015 version? He’s worried about his 6-7 years worth of data will be lost. Please advise.

Hi Matt,
As Sean explained above, the SSL/TLS certificate used to sign the CFFC certificate has changed to something that is not recognised. Moneydance had to be updated to contain the new certificate information, which is why we need users to install the preview version for this to work.
Please advise Mr Drummond to save a backup of his data, before installing the preview, if he is worried about losing data. You can create a backup using the "File --> Export Backup" menu option. When restoring from backup, its as simple as going to 'File --> Restore from Backup' and selecting the file you saved earlier.

Hi Matt,
I just read your post and decided to make a backup of the current Moneydance accounts. When I went to File ---> Export Backup and attempted to save the backup file, I received an Error message saying /Users/Shared/Moneydance/moneydance.moneydancearchive did not exist. In earlier versions of Moneydance, I use to store my files in /Users/Shared/Moneydance so that my wife could also access and update accounts. As you know, this approach no longer works so we both just work from my account. How do I make the pointer be my account when I go to File ---> Export Backup. (By the way, File---> Restore from Backup now points to my document files, i.e. /Users/Drummond/Documents .
Thanks for your help.

Jenny/Sean,
I just read your post and decided to make a backup of the current Moneydance accounts. When I went to File ---> Export Backup and attempted to save the backup file, I received an Error message saying /Users/Shared/Moneydance/moneydance.moneydancearchive did not exist when I try to store the file in my Documents folder. In earlier versions of Moneydance, I use to store all my Moneydance files in /Users/Shared/Moneydance so that my wife could also access and update accounts. As you know, this approach no longer works with the Moneydance files in the Apple Containers folder, so we both just work from my account. How do I make the pointer be my account (say the Documents folder) when I go to File ---> Export Backup. (By the way, File---> Export Backup now points to my document files, i.e. /Users/Drummond/Documents, but when I attempt to save the backup file, I get the error message stated above.)
Thanks for your help.

Jenny/Sean,
Problem solved! I set up a folder in the Mac Shared Folder and saved the Moneydance backup at that location. Then Moneydance would allow me to set up a folder under Documents and save the backup at that location. Strange that it would not allow me to change the pointer before a successful save in the Shared Folder.
Is your Version 1235 (Beta) a safe permanent replacement for my current Moneydance, Version 1299 so as to enable C&F Bank transactions? I've encountered no problems so far.
Thanks again for your help.

Hi Phil,
Yes, it should be fine to continue using that version. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance, and thanks for using Moneydance!
