I was having the same problem for my 401K file -- transactions stopped downloading. Resetting as instructed above (I used the toolbox tool to wipe the accounts and pasted in the above settings in the advanced screen) re-enabled a connection to my account. However, when I downloaded transactions, I had a bout a two month gap between the last transaction (10/31/20) and the 3 new ones downloaded 12/31/20 when I fixed this.

I decided to try setting up a temp account with the same account #/settings. This worked. I then moved downloaded transaction over.

Create new temporary account -- eg "401K temp account"

Set up online for this account

Download transactions

Delete duplicates (eg I had a bit of date range overlap)

Export these transactions to qif file using file/export and selecting the temp account name (Moneydance does not allow batch moving between investment accounts)

Import qif file to the permanent account

Delete temp account from Moneydance

A bit labor intensive, but it worked. YMMV.

Joshtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/488241992021-01-02T19:46:14Z2021-01-02T19:46:14ZError downloading from Fidelity

@rlsantella, I think you will have more luck starting a new thread than trying to hijack the fidelity issues. Most of the responses will be focussed on Fidelity here. A new thread would be able to concentrate on Merril. You might want to start out by listing your OS and version, and the MD version including build number.

Post your errlog.txt file after an unsuccessful download.

Open your console window, scroll to the bottom, and then look at the new entries when trying to download.

Reset up Merril with a "search for new connections" to make sure you have the latest versions.

sthtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/488241992021-01-02T21:05:57Z2021-01-02T21:05:57ZError downloading from Fidelity

Thanks.
Fidelity server is fine. For a while now, ofxhome.com check has not been reliable/accurate.

For 2nd opinion about the status of Fidelity, you can use other tools such as

https://www.digicert.com/help/ (to check connectivity and SSL cert validity)

Use Pocketsense (mentioned by Kevin): https://sites.google.com/site/pocketsense/home/msmoneyfixp1 (command-line, Python)

An alternate method is to use other OFX tool that let you specify that download interval (from which starting date)

This was with MD versions 2020.1 (downloading had failed since September 2020), 2021(2006)

...

I tried with a previous build to make a brand new, clean accounts file and set up the connections which did not work, but haven't yet tried with this build. That will be my next step.

Those two things look out-of-pattern for me.

Fidelity should work as-is (using default MD setup) in 2021(2006)

and a brand-new account should not have any online setup as such the "default" setting should not "interfere" with the 'Advanced settings' value.

So I think for your case, the problem might be different than what most folks have.

My suggestion is

Create a new user/login on your laptop

Login as new user

Install MD

Add a single Fidelity account. Set up using Advanced setting

See if that yield any different result.

hleofxquotestag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/488241992021-01-03T17:57:24Z2021-01-03T17:57:24ZError downloading from Fidelity

The hleofxquotes java program works nicely.
@hleofxquotes: I see your point that my issues are slightly out of pattern with the entire thread, though very similar. Some background on my full scenario for everyone in case it helps, I had this same issue with MD failing to download new transactions, and then failing to set up the connection by asking for broker id when I tried to re-establish it, earlier in 2020 and finally reported to MD as a private discussion in June 2020. This was only with the Fidelity Investments accounts and not with the Fidelity NetBenefits ones. It was quickly resolved by MD staff support guidance to upgrade to the latest preview. build 2019.4(1904) version at the time. I had since upgraded again to 2020.1 at some point (but never 2020.2) and clearly the issue has reoccured for me beginning in September or October 2020, though perhaps not the exact same root cause, and I'm not sure exactly when I did that upgrade and if it coincided with the reoccurrence of the issue.

I will try your advice to set up MD clean (I'll use an older version, it looks like 2020.2(1929) is the latest I can find to download anymore other than 2021.1(3034)).

Edit: Not successful. I'm getting to the point where something will get fired. Probably Fidelity since if I have to manually download my transactions to import I may as well switch to a better broker like IBKR... firing MD would mean I'd have to find new software and migrate all of my history and that's really close to a hard no, plus I've not found anything close to as capable (minus this one issue where fault isn't even really known), I'd almost rather stop tracking my finances at that point, too much effort....

Edit2: I see now there's a link to download 2021(2006). I'll give that a try as a clean install as well.

BHtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/488241992021-01-03T19:39:20Z2021-01-03T19:39:20ZError downloading from Fidelity

I believed we have had users reported success with Fidelity with version 2021 (2006) which can be dowloaded here:

https://infinitekind.com/stabledl/2021_2006/

hleofxquotestag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/488241992021-01-04T11:05:12Z2021-01-04T11:05:12ZError downloading from Fidelity

Hi all,

After running the update below you might need to recreate the connection with Fidelity.

Moneydance 2021.1 (3034) is now available to download from this page.

This version restored custom TLS layer settings for connections requiring custom tweaks (including Fidelity)

You will need to disable your current connection and then recreate it using the New Connection button on the Online Banking Setup screen. To do so, you can follow these steps:

Select your bank account in Moneydance

Select Online --> Setup Online Banking

Click the "Disable" button. If you don't see this button, just close the window.

Repeat the previous steps for any additional accounts at the same institution.

Select Online --> Setup Online Banking (again)

Click the "New Connection" button and select your bank and hit OK

Continue with the setup process, entering your username/password

Make sure you pick "New Connection", even though your bank is still one of the connection choices after you disable it. Choosing your bank from the long list of available banks will force Moneydance to download the updated information, which should then allow you to connect.

Please let us know if you continue to have connection problems after recreating your connection and we'll troubleshoot further.

Is there any reason to return to the setup not using Advanced entries that worked during the interim? Is the Advanced setup less secure? Will it stop working in the future? I am of the mindset -- if it's not broken, don't fix it. Since it WAS broken in MD earlier versions, and it is NOT broken with the Advanced settings, do I need to switch back? And if so, why?
