While I appreciate the effort from all others and MD, I think at this point it's a reasonable question. If I missed a recent update elsewhere addressing this, please let me know. Thank you.

ken_ortlofftag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493033442021-07-22T18:09:32Z2021-07-22T18:09:32ZProgress regarding USAA?

https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/online-banking-and-bill-pay/connecting-with-usaa

rdmyers.42tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493033442021-07-22T18:17:20Z2021-07-22T18:17:20ZProgress regarding USAA?

Thank you. I'm aware of the patch however I'd rather it be natively integrated in MD, which is what I was asking. However, thanks for your guidance.

ken_ortlofftag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493033442021-07-25T21:31:35Z2021-07-25T21:31:35ZProgress regarding USAA?

Hello,

At this point, I think integrating this fix into Moneydance would still require all of the steps described in the workaround, so there's little point in us doing that. We will happily make things simpler if USAA would be willing to work with us on fixing the changes they made, but at this point I wouldn't hold out hope at that happening for the foreseeable future.

Are you saying that USAA will not provide what you need to make the fix? If so, please provide details so that we can call. When I called they said it was Moneydance that needed to make the fix.

tashalrobertstag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493033442021-07-29T09:44:49Z2021-07-29T09:44:49ZProgress regarding USAA?

Whereas the patch did allow a connection, it is not a complete solution since are left with ongoing daily problems caused by duplicate and misaligned entries after download.

Based on what is being said, are we being told this is going to be seen as good a solution that can be hoped for permanently?

iktag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493033442021-07-29T10:14:50Z2021-07-29T10:15:18ZProgress regarding USAA?

I'm a fellow user.

All the scripted solution does is set up a custom profile based on data that you collect. A standard Direct Connect setup cannot collect some of the information because it needs to be extracted from a WEB URL, not from a OFX data stream.

The custom profile has nothing to do with the transactions, it is totally about the connection to the bank.

Duplicate transactions should be avoided by Moneydance itself examining the Transaction IDs provided by the institution and comparing them to saved confirmed transactions in Moneydance to know what transactions to reject. The script has nothing to do with this.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493033442021-07-29T13:56:54Z2021-07-29T13:56:54ZProgress regarding USAA?

Agreed, it is not an issue for the patch to address, but one MD needs to address. However, it seems like they have decided the patch was enough and abandoned further action. If this impression is how it is, I would like them to say so.

I loath Quicken and would not consider going back, but there is a time cost every time I perform a download trying to determine if it is correct or if there are duplicates I have to address. I would like to know that someone is at least looking at this and trying to fix it.

iktag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493033442021-07-29T19:12:00Z2021-07-29T19:17:08ZProgress regarding USAA?

just a user

If you are talking about the USAA credit card transaction duplicates, there is nothing MD can do about this (Quicken users are complaining as well) because the issue is that USAA is issuing identical transactions with different FITID numbers, so there is no way any package can reliably merge them, since that fitid field is key to knowing they are duplicates.

Maybe you really did buy 2 items for $3.79 at the same store.

If this is indeed what you are talking about (versus something else) - you need to add your complaint to the many that have already gone to USAA from both Quicken and MD users (I'm one of those complaints)

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493033442021-08-01T20:19:45Z2021-08-01T20:19:45ZProgress regarding USAA?

That is what I am speaking of and it gets worse if you make payments from a USAA account because they end up creating duplicates in other accounts as well.

I am complaining on both sides of this BTW.

iktag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493033442021-08-01T20:55:58Z2021-08-01T20:55:58ZProgress regarding USAA?

Thanks for the information about duplicates coming from payments from a USAA account as well as credit cards. Since I don't use that feature, I was unaware there was also a duplicate (FITID) problem there.

I assume when you call USAA, you say "this doesn't work properly with Quicken". USAA doesn't give much attention to other 3rd party products, and often even blames the 3rd party for the issue.

Here is one comment, saying USAA said they'd fix this "by July". Oh wait, today is August 1....

As a prior software developer, I am amazed they released this beta version as final.

iktag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493033442021-08-10T19:01:29Z2021-08-10T19:01:29ZProgress regarding USAA?

@ik, couple of suggestions

I think creating a new thread specific to "USAA duplicated transaction" might help getting more traction (instead of your specific issue being buried under the umbrella of "USAA issue")

Bug @Stuart, he might be able to whip up a quick script to dump out detail information of the duplicated transactions. In particular the values of FITID (I am assuming that such FITID is being stored), so that there is data to be able to say if the problem is USAA (bad data) or moneydance (bad matching).

hleofxquotestag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493033442021-08-10T19:37:58Z2021-08-10T19:37:58ZProgress regarding USAA?

Is anyone willing to send me their dataset to analyse the FITID? If so, I’ll send my email address.

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493033442021-08-10T21:39:14Z2021-08-10T21:39:14ZProgress regarding USAA?

hleofxquotes - good thoughts.

I can verify the FITID issue for credit cards, since I have a USAA credit card. The value of the FITID for duplicated transactions tends to follow the same theme - one basically seems to be a date, whereas the other is as below.
(Right click/show transaction details reveals a lot.)

202106020000001
7CBA8A84F4EF7892D262C8C5ACE627F1

(This is one I deliberately kept from June 2, I've tended to delete duplicates since then.)

@ik has identified other areas where there are duplicates, I cannot verify them. Checking accounts do not appear to have this problem. (I can't speak to savings)

@ik, I'd agree with hleofxquotes that a different thread, speaking specifically to this duplicate transaction USAA issue, would be appropriate.

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493033442021-08-12T05:32:09Z2021-08-12T05:32:09ZProgress regarding USAA?

@hleofxquotes... Not sure what to look for here..?

The FITIDs are there and different - e.g.

MDYvMDIvMjEkMjExLjAyNzQyNzA4MjRU
202106020000001
