Virtual Wallet accounts do NOT support Direct Connect. From information as of July 2021, PNC expects to support Virtual Wallet beginning September 2021 but the date could slip.

sportbikertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493174122021-08-02T09:11:20Z2021-08-02T09:11:20ZPNC Virtual Wallet support for Direct Connect

Hi,

Thanks for letting us know about this change!

We have lots of requests for a connection to PNC Virtual Wallet accounts, so there will be many PNC customers who are happy to hear this news.

Once this account type begins to support Direct Connect, we will try to add the connection to Moneydance. You may be able to connect via the existing PNC listing, but it's possible we'll need to add a new connection or make a change to the existing connection details.

I was able to request a PIN via the Online Banking site early last week, and have received my initial PIN, but I have not been able to get it to work yet. I keep getting a '2003 ACCOUNT NOT FOUND' error. PNC 'Quicken' support claims it's a PIN error, but I don't believe that it is. (If I use my original PNC-provided PIN after changing my PIN, I get a different 'signon error.')

I'm not sure if it's something on the MD or the PNC end, but it's not working.

One other note, my user id was indeed my SSN. There are some other notes here that claim it is different. Could be, but not for me.

(And I can relate to the original post. I signed up with PNC only to find that they didn't support Quicken for VW accounts. I basically just abandoned my plans to use PNC, but thought I'd give it a shot now that they supported the connection.)

MDUser4598tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493174122021-09-21T22:02:24Z2021-09-21T22:02:24ZPNC Virtual Wallet support for Direct Connect

just a user

If you are getting a 2003 ACCOUNT NOT FOUND error, you are connecting in. So it isn't a username or password/pin error.

Rather than entering your account number and getting account not found, have the list of accounts available show up when you are trying to set up the direct connect. You may be surprised what they offer.

When we got USAA re-established, many credit card numbers were not the same as what was on the card. Why? Many conjectures, but basically you had to figure out what number they had that "matched" yours, just not the number.

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493174122021-09-21T23:22:43Z2021-09-21T23:22:46ZPNC Virtual Wallet support for Direct Connect

Is there a trick to getting the bank to offer you a list? I just tried to recreate the online setup for PNC. I left the Routing and Account numbers blank, but it never did offer a list of accounts. (Instead, it gave me a 500 error instead of the 2003 error.)

And, I agree that my user/pin is likely not the issue, but the person I had on the phone kept going back to that.

MDUser4598tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493174122021-09-21T23:26:14Z2021-09-21T23:26:14ZPNC Virtual Wallet support for Direct Connect

A 500 error is, if I remember correctly, a sign that the connection is down (on their side).

Try again later.

My impression is that you are doing the "trick", i.e. I want to connect to my accounts, but tell me the account numbers vs. me telling you and getting the 2003 error.

Hope that helps.

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493174122021-09-21T23:27:30Z2021-09-21T23:27:30ZPNC Virtual Wallet support for Direct Connect

The routing number should be put in, because that's just the bank link.

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493174122021-09-21T23:32:58Z2021-09-21T23:33:00ZPNC Virtual Wallet support for Direct Connect

Thanks for the quick replies, but no dice, even with adding the routing number. I'll give it a try again tomorrow.

Hopefully someone with IK see this soon and can help. It appears a number of people have been waiting on support for Virtual Wallet accounts, given the few threads that have been created.

MDUser4598tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493174122021-09-22T04:10:16Z2021-09-22T04:10:16ZPNC Virtual Wallet support for Direct Connect

I have the same "Account not found" error even though I have the Quicken-specific PIN. Yesterday I called PNC support but in the process of them transferring my call they disconnected me. Coincidence or conspiracy: you decide.

I won't have time to try again for a few days because of work deadlines.

sportbikertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493174122021-09-22T12:09:30Z2021-09-22T12:09:30ZPNC Virtual Wallet support for Direct Connect

Hi all,

Have the bank confirmed that Virtual Wallet accounts can now be downloaded via Direct Connect? I couldn’t find any confirmation of this or a date for implementation on the banks website.

I’ve checked our connection details for ‘PNC Bank - Direct Connect’ and it seems no changes are currently required. I'll keep an eye on this and update the connection if a change is made.

Within Quicken there is a listing specifically for PNC Virtual Wallet accounts, but at this time, the listing only supports Web Connect and Express Web Connect.

The link to enable Quicken in one's user profile in Online Banking now appears and is active. (There's a note on PNC's Quicken web page that says something like 'this link not available for Virtual Wallet customers.' That used to be true, and there was no link, but the link is there now and as me, and presumably sportbiker, both experienced, PNC sent us PINs for Quicken after filling out the information at that link.)

https://www.pnc.com/en/personal-banking/banking/online-and-mobile-b...

Incoming BBVA customers are being assigned Virtual Wallet accounts to replace the BBVA checking accounts and PNC claims that Quicken will be active for those incoming BBVA users. (The conversion is scheduled to take place the weekend of 8 October. Perhaps this is all a timing issue.)

https://www.pnc.com/content/dam/pnc-com/pdf/CustomerService/BBVA/BB...

Nothing at that link specifically calls out Virtual Wallet, but if BBVA customers are being assigned Virtual Wallet accounts, then it stands to reason that Quicken will work for Virtual Wallet.

Also, when I was on with PNC Quicken support, I made sure to mention that I was trying to connect to Virtual Wallet accounts, and no mention was made of that being an issue.

And, FWIW, I am still getting 500 errors this morning.

Thanks for looking into this Jenny!

MDUser4598tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493174122021-09-25T18:53:12Z2021-09-28T21:59:36ZPNC Virtual Wallet support for Direct Connect

Being as I am one of the BBVA incoming customers of PNC, am really looking forward to see if MD is going to be successful in downloading transactions. The actual date of the checking account to be activated is 10-12-21. Please continue to update this thread as I believe there are other BBVA customers that are reading it.
EDIT: After going back and reading again the 8 page document that was sent to all BBVA customers, discovered something that is in direct relation to this thread. On page 5/8 it clearly states various items in setting up PNC Online and Mobile Banking, and I quote here:

"Connections with financial apps that use your account, including Direct Connect, Quicken and/or QuickBooks." So I'm thinking it should fly upon completing the transition!

pjgiv1tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493174122021-09-30T17:28:42Z2021-09-30T17:28:42ZPNC Virtual Wallet support for Direct Connect

Latest update from PNC: Just dl'd the info and sounds interesting!

pjgiv1tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493174122021-10-13T07:41:40Z2021-10-13T07:41:40ZPNC Virtual Wallet support for Direct Connect

I am a BBVA customer that was converted this weekend to PNC. I received two letters in the mail, one with my Direct Connect username, which is just your SSN, and a PIN in the second letter. I went through the process of changing my online to PNC in MD (make sure you do not click on the checkbox asking if you have already changed your PIN, you are required to change your PIN and update the routing number and account number). I am connecting with no issues but it keeps saying zero transactions have been downloaded even though I have posted items. I am hoping that it's because they were all last minute transactions from my BBVA debit card, I have yet to use the PNC debit card. If it still isn't downloading transactions at the end of this week, I'll start a ticket here.

dispatcher_21tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493174122021-10-13T12:50:15Z2021-10-13T12:50:15ZPNC Virtual Wallet support for Direct Connect

Thank you dispatcher_21! Only PIN that I've received is for the PNC credit card, nothing else. However, noticed that there are 3 pieces of mail to be delivered today from them. Perhaps one contains the info you've mentioned. Finally did get all PNC accounts linked late last night, but still no ability to dl transactions.

pjgiv1tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493174122021-10-15T17:07:40Z2021-10-15T17:07:44ZPNC Virtual Wallet support for Direct Connect

Has anybody has success with OFX connections/downloads yet?

I never could get mine to work, so I moved to Moneydance+, and that seems to be working fine for both my native PNC and my formerly BBVA Virtual Wallet accounts.

I did find one other nugget in my exploration, however. This blog post (https://blog.davidjsa.com/gnucash-pnc-ofx-and-opportunity-cost/2013...) says that Quicken is the only software that can change the PNC PIN number. I do note that the post is 8.5 years old at this point, but that would explain why PNC Support was telling me that my PIN had never changed. (But it doesn't explain why I was getting errors that I would only get if I were properly logged in.)

Long story short... In my opinion, Moneydance+ is the best way to go for PNC downloads. (I do have concerns about Plaid's fingers in my financial data, but it's a valid tradeoff at this point.)

MDUser4598tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493174122021-10-16T06:51:06Z2021-10-16T06:51:06ZPNC Virtual Wallet support for Direct Connect

I got it changed over from BBVA to PNC, I changed my PIN and I can connect with no error messages but it just says zero transactions downloaded and I have posted items.
