Appears to have happened on 10/1 (since I got downloads on 9/30), although there are two reports of it happening earlier.

For those checking their own downloads, you can either check your console, or note that there is no "zero transactions downloaded" between the Schwab account and the one following.

My console now says "forbidden", with lots of other stuff.

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494169172021-10-03T00:57:25Z2021-10-03T00:57:25ZSchwab not downloading to Moneydance as of 10.2.221

Assume this is a Schwab issue, yet again.
It's going to be the other way around - i.e. Moneydance (the little guy) has to play ball with the big guys.

Moneydance is working with an aggregator (MD tried to pick the most privacy player) to provide information going forward - the OFX continuing players will still work, but NCSECU and Schwab (and others) - we will need to use this compromise when it is available (it's in a preview - but wait - it's still beta, imo)

Here's a message from Sean in the NCSECU thread:

https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/online-banking/18327...

The part that Sean doesn't mention - and that will honestly, imo, be more of a pain to MD than the subscribers (us) is that there will need to be a subscription fee ($2/month for long term users) since MD has to pay Plaid for this. This will disturb the "Quicken is a subscription and MD is not bit"

Still, this is a PREVIEW of what is coming, and I recommend unless you like to test things to wait and see.

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494169172021-10-03T01:16:17Z2021-10-03T01:16:17ZSchwab not downloading to Moneydance as of 10.2.221

I don't mind the $2 as that is still cheaper than Intuit, but how long 'to wait'. Longer one waits, the more of a pain it is..... If we
are talking a month, might as well pay darth vader....

David Greenetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494169172021-10-03T01:18:58Z2021-10-03T01:19:03ZSchwab not downloading to Moneydance as of 10.2.221

I looked. . Will cost over $70 a year with Quicken. Plus, NO LINUX support. Means I have to run the damn thing on a windows virtual
machine....

David Greenetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494169172021-10-03T01:30:43Z2021-10-03T01:31:47ZSchwab not downloading to Moneydance as of 10.2.221

Well, there is a preview already out (if you want to test it), which suggests it's not months away (maybe a month or so for full stability), and (here is a yay) - Schwab downloads up to 18 months of data, so you could catch up - AND I see that MD now can say (in the preview) "from what date do you want to download from".

I do NOT use my live data to test, but I do test and see what others have tested.

Oh, and another comment from Sean:
(laments about Schwab maybe turning off OFX) "It (the replacement) is coming"

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494169172021-10-03T01:32:05Z2021-10-03T01:32:05ZSchwab not downloading to Moneydance as of 10.2.221

I'm a fellow user.

The difference with subscriptions is that Quicken, and Reckon in Australia, is that with these products the subscription is for using the software at all.

With Moneydance the subscription is only if you use Moneydance + i.e Plaid, if you don't use this feature there is no subscription so it it totally at the users discretion.

The subscription looks to be based on a cost recovery model rather than a profit model.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494169172021-10-03T01:34:11Z2021-10-03T01:34:11ZSchwab not downloading to Moneydance as of 10.2.221

@dwg - agreed - it's a necessity, not a charge for profit.

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494169172021-10-03T01:34:55Z2021-10-03T01:35:00ZSchwab not downloading to Moneydance as of 10.2.221

That is good to know. My time is worth something.

David Greenetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494169172021-10-03T01:45:24Z2021-10-03T01:45:24ZSchwab not downloading to Moneydance as of 10.2.221

I use Schwab as well, and had downloads on 9/30.

Schwab seems (assumption) to have cut off MD on 10/1. Today is 10/2. MD had a preview out BEFORE 10/1 for their new solution. But, software has alphas and betas - this feels like a beta, but MD is definitely trying.

So wait for a bit for the angel or pay for the devil. Your choice, as it should be.

Oh, and as for "your time is worth something" - how much time to convert back to Quicken and to recreate that windows virtual machine? Just a thought. [I think the conversion back will be a bigger issue than a new virtual machine - I've been in this place before as well.]

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494169172021-10-03T13:16:35Z2021-10-03T13:16:37ZSchwab not downloading to Moneydance as of 10.2.221

Actually the c s v extension takes care of checking account, just wished it

So, yes, not acceptable, but blame the one who "stopped it working, and didn't inform anyone".

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494169172021-10-04T17:35:00Z2021-10-04T17:35:03ZSchwab not downloading to Moneydance as of 10.2.221

This is from the program I use to follow my investments:

Charles Schwab now uses an "FDX" server instead of the older "OFX" technology. Once set up, retrieving transactions/prices/balances works just as it did before with the OFX technology. Like the OFX technology all your data is transmitted securely (HTTPS), and Fund Manager only has read access to your transactions/prices/balances. Benefits of the FDX server are that your login credentials and account numbers are never shared with Fund Manager.

Bottom line - yes MD has to set this up, and reluctantly chose Plaid as an aggregator. Reluctantly because it does compromise your security/privacy. Note in the Schwab message:
Fund Manager only has read access to your transactions/prices/balances.
Umm - to me that's a lot! That is still information that can be bundled and sold.

Finally, MD is setting it up, and in fact has released a preview (4045 at the moment) that users are testing. If you're one who doesn't mind testing and breaking things and reporting - try it out ON A TEST SYSTEM. This is quite beta, and some were surprised because previews had tended to be bug fixes - but this is a state change, and some things are not working well yet.

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494169172021-10-04T18:36:51Z2021-10-04T18:36:51ZSchwab not downloading to Moneydance as of 10.2.221

But, yes, MD is working fervently to get this out to users as the first 2022 release. MD had hoped that the banks mentioned would keep their OFX servers going "just a bit longer"...

dtd
