How do I delete accounts mapped for downloaded transactions

I have downloaded transactions for a chequing account. I Imported that data and mapped it to the wrong account. How can I unmap it? I'm not talking about Online Banking, etc. just downloaded and imported transactions.

    I'm a fellow user.

The method to unmap an account depends on the version of Moneydance you have.

Pre Moneydance 2022 it was necessary to use the Toolbox Extension, however I'm not sure if the version that is available now will have this option as Moneydance 2022 has an inbuilt option. Stuart would need to advise if the latest version supports this with older versions of MD or if you need to use an older version and where it can be sourced from.

To reset the “Remember This Choice” option in Moneydance 2022 , you need to use the match online window.

To access this use the menu path Online → Match Online Accounts.
Within this window ensure that “Imported OFX/QFX” is selected then identify which account you want to clear the option for.

Select the account and in the drop down select “None”.

You may need to Close and reopen Moneydance. You should now be able to perform the import and be prompted for the account.

dwg, thanks for a response! This Toolbox thing looks pretty neat. I'm trying to sift through your response.
I don't know what you mean by:

To access this use the menu path Online → Match Online Accounts.
Within this window ensure that “Imported OFX/QFX” is selected then identify which account you want to clear the option for.

My Online menu looks like the one I've included. I don't have an "Imported....." entry.

From the Toolbox if I click the "Menu:Online Banking (OFX) Tools" button I see the second screenshot. I don't see an “Imported OFX/QFX” entry there either but I do see stuff about deleting, editing, forgetting, and so on. Is this where I am to clear stuff?

    Can you provide some clarity?

I sure appreciate you help. I think I finally found someone who knows how to do this. Thanks much!

I think the big thing about understanding is "what version of MD are you using"?

dwg was comparing the new 2022 version versus older versions, and was wondering if, given the newest version if Stuart's toolbox still supported older versions of MD.

So, "what version of MD are you using"? That will help further dialogue on which direction to pursue to handle your issue.

Im pretty sure you will have to delete those improperly imported transactions yourself, but unmapping is very important and Stuart will probably reply in his morning (he's based in the UK)

You seem to be trying to combine Moneydance 2022 methodology with pre-Moneydance 2022 and Toolbox.

The Moneydance screen shot suggests you are using Moneydance 2021 or earlier which does not have the match menu command.

The Toolbox option you want is “Forget OFX Banking File Import Link (remove_ofx_account_bindings.py)”

@Mark. Dwg was exactly right, and you are clearly on an MD version prior to MD2022.

The Toolbox option you want is “Forget OFX Banking File Import Link (remove_ofx_account_bindings.py)”

Hazaaa! You guys are great! Thanks so much! And thank you to Stu for Toolbox.
I was working on this problem 2 months ago and nobody knew anything about fixing mappings and so on. I'm back in business. It looks like I should upgrade as well.
    Take care Gentlemen.

(I'm surprised no one pointed you to Toolbox 2 months ago... Did you make a public forum post requesting help?)

I had some conversation with Maddy at MD Support. It looks like it was a private discussion though and not public. My mistake.

I did look all over the forums and found nothing useful about unmapping. All I found was stuff about deleting Online Banking stuff that was not relevant.

While we're here, is there a bit of a help / how-to of how to use the Toolbox extension?

I'm sure Stuart will reply "tomorrow" as he is based in UK.

But, I don't think there is much documentation, just a lot of help.

For example, I wrote the USAA fix documentation.

Many did not receive it well, as they wanted a "Moneydance" fix, not "just a user fix".

Makes it tough to spend the time to write documentation, when some refuse to let someone other than moneydance provide them a fix.

All of this takes a lot of work.

Well, I thank you for your contribution. It's nice if something like MD actually has an Extensions option where capable users can make add-on parts. As a farmer I'd love to be able to add my few cents on how to improve my tractor AND see that improvement in the next model.

Note there is also no "Moneydance" solution to your issue, but Toolbox has solved it.

We've also solved the USAA problem, but many don't want the solution, for some reason.
Thus, to get back to the point, I wrote 9 pages of documentation on the USAA issue, and we (Stuart/I) could write a hundred pages on other issues, but, honestly, why?

Writing docs keeps you off the streets :)

My own long term project is to put as much info about using Moneydance itself into a document.

🚜 Sorry, there is no user guide for Toolbox. There is an information popup which tells you all the menu options. It would just take too long to do….

Thank you dwg and others who contributed to this thread. I think your help for Mark may have just given me the help I needed. In the search for answers to my problem I think I had been given instructions and a script for fixing the mapping problems in 2021. It wasn't working, probably because I am currently using 2022.2. My problems originally stemmed from my credit union changing my account number because of fraud on my account. The instructions from dwg were easy to follow and I finally was able to download the transactions from the credit union. It is late and I am too tired to run through each of the three accounts to double-check everything and then reconcile. However, I am more hopeful than I have been since early October that the problems are fixed. When I open the Match Online Accounts window the three accounts with the old account number still show up but they all say "none" and now the others with the new account number are showing up as they should. Thanks again~

@desertmules. Out of interest what script were you using (that didn’t work) and which Toolbox option fixed your issue?

    Hi Stuart,
This gets a bit convoluted and took far too long to get fixed because the support people were apparently not reading the information I was giving them re which version of MD I was currently on. I was on MD 2021 first but was given the information for 2022 as the first fix. I wrote support again and once again gave the OS I was using and the version of MD I was using. Then once that support person understood that I need a fix for 2021 she sent me the script remove_ofx_account_bindings.py. It did work the first time I ran it and I was able to add transactions for one of 3 accounts (linked to the changed account number) at my credit union. However, after that, it did not work for the other two accounts despite my trying reloading the script and using the same steps within the toolbox.

This support person had suggested I update MD to 2022 and I did that thinking that perhaps that would fix things. It did not. In fact, now I could no longer add downloads to the account where the script had worked.

Fast forward a few weeks and I had a response from another support person who in her message mentioned this thread and linked to it. However, she gave me the instructions and the same script for 2021 because she overlooked the information that I was currently using 2022. I had already tried the script numerous times in 2022 and the toolbox and felt certain it would not work. I read and reread this thread a number of times to be certain I understood what I needed to do. I followed these instructions from dwg and that is what finally worked:

"Pre Moneydance 2022 it was necessary to use the Toolbox Extension, however I'm not sure if the version that is available now will have this option as Moneydance 2022 has an inbuilt option.

You should now be able to perform the import and be prompted for the account."

I realize that support persons are overworked and that they are trying to help many different people but it seems to me that if they would just try to slow down a bit and read the information that is given to them it would save time and stress for them and for those they are trying to assist. The most crucial bit of information particularly for the right reset for this particular problem seems to be understanding which version of MD is being used - if the customer has specified then pay attention to that information. If the customer has not specified then perhaps it would be best to ask that question first before giving information that may not apply. Not trying to be harsh in saying this so hopefully, it will be taken more as a suggestion for how to better assist customers. I greatly appreciate the information from those contributing to this thread as well as help from support.

    Regards,
    Roberta

Yes.. Forget OFX Banking File Import Link is the (remove_ofx_account_bindings.py) function in Toolbox... Pre MD2022 you could have used the standalone script.. on MD2022 you can use Online Match menu... I also know that support are not yet fully up to speed with Toolbox.... Toolbox also has the cleanup banking links function which can also help...
