Schwab download feedback
IK - first of all - thank you for build 4068 and Schwab is now working! I was able to download transactions last night back to October when they stopped. This is a huge step forward and it largely works for me.
I did notice a few issues to report - seems mainly to do with transfers...
- Transfers out - these are reported with the wrong sign - so they initially show up as adding funds to the account (positive) instead of taking money out (negative).
- Journal transfer - these seem to be completely skipped. Journalizing shares or journalizing cash in or out - all of these transactions are completely skipped and not downloaded or imported at all. Typically these show up as a transfer (or sell transfer, etc).
Thanks!

Hi,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
Your feedback is highly appreciated. In order to be able to look into this more in depth, cloud you send us your Moneydance error logs? The logs should include information about what might be causing the problem.
They are saved on your computer as an errlog.txt file.
You can get to your error logs as follow:
1) navigate to Help->Console Window to show the console log in a window
or
2) in the Finder, press ⌘⇧G and then copy and paste
~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support
into the field and press enter/return.At that point the finder will show an internal folder which contains the errlog.txt file.
Finally you can paste the full content to your next reply here.
Thank you

just a user - I can verify the transfers out issue with my investment checking account at Schwab.
I don't think any of these issues will show up in an errlog.txt file (I'm not sure though how Sean is setting up transaction import logs though), but could at least be seen in a console window bit.
For example, the reversed sign issue has the 0.pmt and 0.smt fields as opposites, and I don't know how they are imported (except to be reversed). Also, for me, cash transfers were presented as possible securities (which I said 'none of the above') to.

AS to this:
- Transfers out - these are reported with the wrong sign - so they initially show up as adding funds to the account (positive) instead of taking money out (negative).
- Journal transfer - these seem to be completely skipped. Journalizing shares or journalizing cash in or out - all of these transactions are completely skipped and not downloaded or imported at all. Typically these show up as a transfer (or sell transfer, etc).
I definitively concur with point 1. (Values are sign reversed)
With point two - journal entries OFTEN seem skipped. I did find a few in my six month of entries, but many are indeed missing.
So both should be examined.
3) I often get an Xfr without a defined security - it seems to default to the first security in the list (which MD+ created itself) - in my case 138615406 - which means nothing to me other than being now the first in my security list. I just keep changing the security to the real one. But this should be looked at.
4) Often I get Xfr when it should be Div or MiscInc - which requires me to put in the security vs. "Cash - Dan" - i.e. my first alphabetical entry yet again.
A couple more, but they are niggles that may even be with OFX.

Maddy - not sure the error log will help in this case as dtd says. I think its just the transaction type.
I also agree with 3 & 4 above too.
For example from Schwab csv download - here is sample of the transaction types of various accounts. Not sure if this is exactly what comes through plaid or not...but my guess is some of the transaction types aren't mapped properly or something.
Sell
Buy
Journaled Shares
Journal
Funds Paid

Sorry to hear about the issues you've encountered.
I've referred your query past the development team who may be able to provide further information.
Thank you for your patience while the development team is looking into this for you.

Thanks Maddy, for passing this on. To clarify, vs the multiple posts:
jpbears and I have found 4 issues with the new (much better working) investment downloads from MD+
1) Transfers out - these are reported with the wrong sign - so they initially show up as adding funds to the account (positive) instead of taking money out (negative). [This causes incorrect balances]
2) Journal transfer - many of these are skipped. Journalizing shares or journalizing cash in or out - often not downloaded or imported at all. Typically these show up as a transfer (or sell transfer, etc). [This may be a plaid issue vs. MD+, but it exists]
3) Some Xfr transactions come without a defined security - MD defaults to the first security in the database list. The artificially assigned security has to be changed to the real one.
4) Some Xfr transactions should have a different action: such as Div or MiscInc. In any case, MD defaults to the first account in the list to place the transaction amount. This artificially assigned account has to be changed to the proper account.

Hi dtd,
I think we would probably need to see the Plaid data as well as understanding what the actual transactions are to determine the best way for Moneydance to handle them. Without this information I do not think we could say were the problem is or if it can be addressed in Moneydance as the software currently stands.

I agree, I said as much in point 2, and in point 1 I was examining what the console window said was coming in, but I don't know if it had already been altered.

If we knew what the raw data from Plaid looks like, and any modifications made, folks testing the new investment downloads might be able to determine consistencies. The console window is a good start, but unlike OFX I don't know if it is raw Plaid info or modified.

Hi Dan,
To view the raw data for individual transactions you can right-click (or control-click) on the transaction and select Show Transaction Details from the popup menu. If you could copy and paste those details to me for any incorrect transactions that should make fixing them faster. If you ping me in slack could you also include a screenshot of how the transaction appears in the register?
Thanks!
Sean

Sean - I have sent you transaction details and screenshots. Hope it helps.

I cannot get my transactions into Schwab to download. A cash transfer from Fidelity downloaded, but the security transactions did not. What next! Very frustrated.

Any progress on these issues? My Schwab investment transactions are also not parsed properly when they are "journaling" transactions (showing up with the first security it can find, rather than the proper account). @sean, do you already have the 'raw' transaction information to show this, or would it help to provide that to you?
Thanks!
