My bank offers three different options for exporting transactions in OFX format

Microsoft Money OFX
Quicken 2001onwards OFX
Sage Line 50 OFX

Which is the best to use, or does it not matter?

    Hi Graham,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

We'd recommend you download using the OFX or QFX file format if available. If not, use the QIF file format. (These files are sometimes referred to as Quicken or MS Money files). You can import the files to Moneydance using File --> Import.

The steps for manually importing your data are outlined in this article from the Knowledge Base.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

I use MS Money OFX but I suspect any OFX would be OK.. Try it and see...

Hi thanks for that, but it doesn't answer my question about which sort of OFX file I should use. My bank is offering me three different sorts of OFX file!

I am also now having more trouble - I have created a new account and entered the account number in account details

When I drop the OFX file for this onto the moneydance window, nothing happens. there are no transactions at all, the window remains blank

I've been using moneydance for years and never had this trouble

Launch Help/Console. Keep console open. Double-click the OFX again and see what's occurring in console.... Also open the OFX with a text editor and check there is data in it.

    I'm a fellow user.

A Quicken OFX file is likely to have a Quicken private section in it (which would make it a QFX file) A Money file should be standard OFX. I have no idea what the other one would be.

OFX however is a defined standard so provided the rules have been played by any OFX file should work, We typically see Money and Quicken files used so I would stick to these.
