Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

Currently, Moneydance supports automatic downloads using Direct Connect or Moneydance + but unfortunately neither of these automatic connection methods are supported by EU banks, yet!

Without Direct Connect and Moneydance +, you are still able to easily import your data into the program.
We'd recommend you use the OFX or QFX file format if either of these are available. If not, use the QIF file format. You can find the steps for manually importing your data in this article.

Finally, although the development team is considering implementing a way of seeing all the banks supported by Moneydance+ via Plaid without signing up to the free 14-day trial, for the time being this is the only option.
Using the 14-day trial you can create a free account at: https://my.plaid.com by clicking GET STARTED at that link. This Plaid account has nothing to do with Moneydance, but it enables you to see the banks supported by Plaid. As part of creating a Plaid account you provide a phone number so that when you sign into Plaid it can use two step verification.
Once signed into your Plaid account you can then click the link to Add an Account.
You get the same screen as if you were in Moneydance+ and you can check the list to see if your Banks are supported

If you wish, to you can download the trial version of Moneydance from our website on this page.

The trial version is fully functional and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions. Imported transactions are not limited, so you'll be able to fully test downloading data from your bank, and importing data from other personal finance software.
If you decide to purchase the program at a later date you can keep all data you have entered during the trial period.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions or need any assistance.

Moneydance+ uses Plaid and the Plaid website https://plaid.com/en-eu/ shows connection to Barclays, HSBC UK and other EU banks.

Why is the Moneydance+/Plaid setup still not showing European banks and allowing downloads? Moneywiz just posted an article on how to import and migrate from Moneydance to Moneywiz which supports 40,000 banks in 50 countries. European Banks in Moneydance+ are not a nice to have feature. HSBC UK has no way to download transactions. It does not support Direct Connect, OFX or QIF. We really need European banks fast.

I understand there is always limited capacity but I appreciate this is considered a priority to secure the long term success of Moneydance.

Diegotag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/545340422022-07-07T05:08:48Z2022-07-07T05:08:48ZEuropean banks

md+ works for U.K. banks but only in development mode. The developer has not enabled this for all users as of yet. I know that some time again they were awaiting some agreements to be finalised. Hopefully they’ll comment further.

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/545340422022-07-07T06:35:54Z2022-07-07T06:35:59ZEuropean banks

@ Diego

What you say above about HSBC UK is inaccurate & could be misleading to a new user.

HSBC does support downloads, see attached

jeff_ltag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/545340422022-07-07T15:30:32Z2022-07-07T15:30:37ZEuropean banks

Jeff,

Thanks for correcting me. I just logged in and verified that HSBC UK added an OFX and QIF download option in their new banking portal (blue). This was not available in their previous banking portal (red). I see they also extended the transaction search window from 3 months to 12 months. Glad to see they are improving.

Diego
