download matching

When I download transactions, and have a new transaction that matches an old, reconciled transaction, it will match that old transaction rather than offer to create a new one. The dates are a month apart. Is there some option to have it prefer creating a new transaction?

Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

You could navigate to Moneydance --> Preferences --> Network and set the option "Only match downloaded transactions when they are at most 'N' days apart". Then change the N to 0. This should help limit any incorrect merge suggestion in future.

The easiest solution to correct a confirmation error would (when it happens) would be to create a transaction to replace the one which has been 'merged' and therefore is missing from the register. You may have use your bank statement for the transaction information. Also, amending the settings as I mentioned earlier will help reduce any incorrect merges happening in the future.
If you have a backup of your data from before the 'merge', you can restore and then go through the merging process again.
Alternatively, you could try to delete all newly downloaded transactions and download them again from your bank.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

Cool! The days apart was set to Default, I changed it to 7. How many days
    is Default?

The problem with fixing the download is how far back I have to scroll to
    find it.

I really think that if there is a choice of Default, the value of Default should be listed.

I.e. "Default (30)" instead of "Default"

I still have not received an answer from Moneydance as to what the Default value is.

The default value should be zero, as the following numbers are listed in a progressive ascending order.

I don't think that is correct since when it was set to default Moneydance
was matching downloaded transactions against prior transactions that were a
month or more ago. Or does Moneydance treat 0 as infinite?

In fact, I was wrong and I do apologize for the incorrect information.

After looking into this again, it turns out that: 'When set as default, Moneydance will match older transactions within 90 days and future transactions within 14 days.'

For clarity, we've included the same information within this article of the Knowledge, as well.

ok, so if I set a different value, say 10, is that for older, future, or

If you set the limit to 10, then transactions will match those that are 10 days older to 10 days newer.

The 90-14 days parameter is just a special case for the 'default' setting.
