Chase and Discover have abandoned OFX in favor of Aggregators

Discover no longer seems to offer OFX/QFX/QIF downloads at their website. People have reported failure via OFX for some time.

Chase's automatic OFX downloads "broke" Wed Oct 5 evening. Normally, I just wait a few days for such to start working again, and I did check to see that Quicken users cannot connect either right now. Still, I found this link very disturbing:

EWC+ stands for Express Web Connect + --- it appears to be an extension/API that is beginning to support the FDX concept (I know, a lot of acronyms - just things are changing). FDX is one of the reasons that MD+ was created, as the "new methodology" only supports sharing YOUR data with aggregators, versus you directly.

So, for now, I will just cross my fingers that Chase will fix OFX [edit: nope!] and I can at the moment still download QFX files manually.

I'll stop here, but rather than just wax poetic, I'll answer questions for other things I'm learning right now, but as "just a user".

EDIT: Chase via MD+ works, if you wish to move to the MD+ subscription service.
Instructions that worked for me:

To IK staff - were you actively aware of the Discover/Chase changes, or do you get the information when we discover it? Are you working with Plaid to make sure these transitions flow to Plaid? I assume Plaid is part of the FDX group?

Thanks for sharing this. I used this methodology and was successful in setting up checking and savings. However, the various cc accounts seem to download randomly or into the wrong account. No doubt I did something wrong as I was following your procedure, but now I want to fix this. Is there some way to remove the cc accounts and re-do? Or to repair their connections? I’ve tried various combinations of Reset and Re-synch but to no avail.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Assuming you linked all the credit cards, is the issue that they simply say "CREDIT CARD" or something like that and you don't know which card to link to? If so, you can try nicknaming the cards within chase so that you get more detail as to which to link to.
(you would have to unlink and relink to get that info once you do it) - I say this as the fact downloads occur to the wrong account suggests you linked them wrong.

Stuart also has a methodology to extract the last four digits of the card, but it was mostly a proof of concept as he hopes to get Sean to add it to the main program.

To start over with a bank, click the Connected button, then click Disconnect BANK

A lot of my items are suggestions, not knowledge, as this is where the MD+ setup sometimes goes wrong, and I work very hard following the MD+ "straight and narrow path".

    Hope that helps.

Many thanks for all the suggestions I’ve been given, especially those from dtd. For now, the various cards are linking correctly. I still am asked to re-link the connection to Chase rather frequently, but at least it’s working except during one of Chase’s frequent site outages.
