I used the Toolbox to clean up old connections, disconnected my existing Ally connections, then tried to reconnect.

Ally has now implemented 2FA by sending a text message to a phone number, but I've never owned a cell phone. :(

I think I'm stuck.

hike305tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/568520822022-12-03T01:26:23Z2022-12-03T01:26:23ZMD+ setup

just a user - maybe you can login to the Ally website, and they may have alternatives in the 2FA versus a text (like maybe an email message?)

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/568520822022-12-03T02:59:32Z2022-12-03T02:59:34ZMD+ setup

Thanks, dtd.

Ally doesn't do emails or calls to VOIP phones for 2FA. So, I registered a phone number with one of the free texting apps on my iPad and was able to get the security code from Ally.

Now - having cleaned up all my MD+ connections - I'm back to the original problem.

hike305tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/568520822023-12-13T18:10:10Z2023-12-14T16:32:20ZMD+ setup

Just bought my first cellphone (ever!), so I'm now able to receive authorization codes via text.

I deleted my Ally connections in MD, then used the toolbox extension to clean up the Ally stragglers.

So, starting with a clean slate, I reconnected my Ally accounts...and I still have the issue described in the original post. For my Ally IRA account, MD+ only presents a list of MD investment accounts to connect them to.

Might there be some meta-data coming down from Ally that identifies the account as an 'investment' account?

hike305
