Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay getting back to
you. We've been experiencing a high volume of support requests and
I'm afraid we initially missed your queries. I can see your other
discussion in
this thread so I'll address both issues here.

Firstly, regarding the auto-categorisation - Moneydance should
be automatically assigning the best matching category to your newly
downloaded transactions. Are you 'confirming' transactions which
have been downloaded from your bank? The transactions will have a
solid blue dot if unconfirmed, and a blue circle (white centre) if
confirmed. Only transactions that you confirm are considered as
source material by the auto categorisation algorithm.
To begin the confirmation process, click on the first transaction
in your account register with a blue dot. After you confirm a
transaction Moneydance will “look” for and select the
next unconfirmed transaction. As you begin to confirm your
transactions, the process should become quicker and easier as
Moneydance begins to recognise similar transactions. You can see
screenshots of the features you'll be using in
this article.

Regarding the duplicates issues - When you're going through the
confirmation process, as detailed above, you'll have the option to
'Merge' similar transactions. When you download data from your bank
to Moneydance for the first time, Moneydance will download any and
all available transactions on your banks server. As you've
previously imported these transactions to AceMoney, then to
Moneydance, you will likely see some transactions duplicated. By
merging the transactions, rather than deleting the duplicates, they
should not be re-downloaded the next time you download data from
your bank.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you
have further questions or need assistance when setting this up.
