Direct Connect

My credit card company will direct connect or web connect only to Quicken for Mac (I'm on a Mac with most recent version of MD). I have successfully downloaded a qfx file from them, but I cannot specify a date range (their problem). So, my question can I attempt to create a direct connect from my cc company using their interface "direct connect to quicken essentials for Mac" and have it connect to MD and bring in transactions?

Also, this is a new login b/c the old pw does not work or I changed it and forgot it and it won't let me setup a new login with my old email ... can I reset my old login PW?
Thanks,
Mike Harris

    Hi Mike,

Can you give me the name(s) of the financial institution(s) you're trying to connect to? Many financial institutions will require you to enable your accounts for application-based online banking. You can accomplish this by asking your bank to set up your account for direct connections from Quicken. Moneydance uses exactly the same OFX server connection protocol as Quicken but your bank representative may not know this and mistakenly believe that you can not connect in Moneydance. Calling up your bank and stating precisely the following should get you started. "Please enable direct connect on my account such that I can connect to your servers directly with Quicken. Also give me the login credentials I need to connect Quicken to this service."

Application-based online banking often requires a different login/PIN than the ones that are used for ATM or web-based banking. When you enable your account for access from Moneydance or Quicken, your financial institution should let you know what customer ID/login and PIN to use.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thanks for your interest in Moneydance!

    USAA in San Antonio Tx
    They offer direct connect to:
Quicken 2010 - 2013 for Windows and Quicken Essentials for Mac 2010 with instructions how to specifically do it within those programs.

So, using MD's menu, do I ask to open bank website, then which program (server?) do I ask to connect to. do all Quicken programs for windows and mac use the same file structure?

    Hi Mike,

When establishing a connection to USAA, you'll want to use your member number as your Username, and your PIN as your Password. Here's a link to a guide from our knowledge base that will walk you through the process of setting-up online banking:

    http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/online-banking/setting-up-online-ba...

Could you try those settings and get back to me with the results? Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me with any questions about this process!

David, I have another related issue. When I go to the “online banking signup” screen, no financial institution’s show up. I am on MD v 2015.2 (1145) that I licensed through the Apple’s App Store. I notice that MD is now on v 2015.7 but did not see an upgrade path. Would reloading current version from the app store (with my current key) load in the MD financial info that appears to be lost now? What other steps should I be look at to restore MD functionality?

    David,
Actually, I updated to 2015.2 through Infinite Kind. I checked inside MD for update and it says my 2015.2 is up to date. Next steps?

Moneydance 2015.2 build 1145 is quite old.

The current stable build is 1358 which you can download from:

    http://infinitekind.com/download-moneydance-personal-finance-software

The current preview build is 1369:

    Mike,

As dwg has just pointed out above, if you're still using build #1145 you'll definitely want to update to the latest stable build which can be obtained from our website here:

    http://infinitekind.com/download-moneydance-personal-finance-software

After updating, could you retry populating the financial institution list? If it again fails, could you send us the output of your console log? This can be found by going to Help -> Console window in Moneydance, then clicking the "Copy to clipboard" button and pasting the output to us here.

Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me with any questions about this process!

    David et al,
When I clicked on “new connection” in online window, the list appeared. I have updated to 2015.7. I’m good for now.
