I am trying to set up the connection to my credit card, which is a
Capital one and i can't get it to work.
I called Capital One and they assured me that there was not
enabling to do and that my login info should simply be the same as
the one for my online banking.
I am selecting the Bank Name: Capital One Bank-after 12-15-13, but
i'm not sure that's what it should be. It should be Capital One
Card Services according to the Capital One representative.
Then i am getting the error message:
"There was an error communicating with your financial institution.
The details of this error are below. Bank Name: Capital One
Bank-after 12-15-13
The error code reported by the server was: 2000
Please help… i'm having such a hard time with MoneyDance so
far, i'm starting to regret not to go to Quicken…
Thanks...

Celinetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/369858722015-05-30T12:05:06Z2015-05-30T12:05:06ZCapital one online banking problem

Unfortunately, Capital One doesn't supports direct OFX
connections for their credit cards, which Moneydance requires in
order to talk directly to a bank. We have no idea why they have
decided to provide this service for their other types of accounts
but not their credit cards, and we unfortunately have little
influence over which services banks decide to offer to their
customers.

The best way to get your transactions into Moneydance is to use
a web browser to download them from your bank's web site. You can
download into QFX, OFX, OFC, or QIF files (sometimes referred to as
Quicken or MS Money files), any of which will import cleanly into
Moneydance. You can also open your bank's download page directly
(after entering the appropriate address in the Account->Edit
Account menu) by going to the menu bar and selecting
Online->Open Account Website.

If your bank begins to support direct OFX connections in the
future, we will be happy to work with them.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

The person i talked to at Capital one said it worked fine with
Quicken…
Ho well, it worked perfectly with the downloads, i guess i'll have
to do it every so often.
Thank you Ethan

Celinetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/369858722015-05-30T18:23:57Z2015-05-30T18:23:57ZCapital one online banking problem

There are two methods that personal finance software can use to
access your accounts: direct connect and web connect. With web
connect, the software basically connects to your bank's website and
downloads and imports OFX, QFX, QIF, and OFC files, automating the
process you would do manually. Direct connect actually connects to
a server at your bank instead of their website and usually requires
different login credentials than you would use to log into your
banks website. Moneydance only supports automatic connections
through direct connect and not web connect, as web connect is
unfortunately a propitiatory protocol maintained by Quicken. You
can still download OFX, QFX, QIF, and OFC files files from your
bank and import them, but there's currently no way to do this
automatically from within Moneydance.
