Cannot Connect to Wells Fargo Bank
I am on a Mac and have been using Moneydance for years, and I have always been able to connect to Wells Fargo Bank. Suddenly I received an error message that the software was outdated and I needed to upgrade the software. I upgraded from Moneydance 2012 to 2015 and I receive the same error. I have called Wells Fargo Bank and they see no issues from their end. I read all of the related posts and have tried to use the Python Interface to "force clear" the bank connection. However, when I upload the remove_one_service_2015.py file into the Python interface I get an error message that "There was an error running the script:" I have attached the full text of the error message below. Please help me work through this so that I can once again connect to the bank to download transactions.

Hello,
The problem may be that for some reason, according to your error message, the remove_one_service_2015.py file that you downloaded seems to be named "remove_one_service_2015.webarchive" on your system, which is probably causing Moneydance to not recognize the file type correctly. Try renaming the file so that it ends with the .py extension instead of .webarchive and see if that makes a difference.

Ethan,
I tried that as well. Here is the error message when the file is named with the extension .py
Thanks for your help with this.

Hi Scott,
I think you'll need to re-download the file. To download it properly in Safari, right click on the link and choose the "Download Linked File" option. It should then save with the .py extension.

Ian,
THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your instructions. Sometimes it is just the simplest things, such as how to download a .py file that I have never done before. So i downloaded the file, used the Python Extension to access the file, deleted the connections to Wells Fargo Bank, and then I re-made the connection to Wells Fargo Bank and everything works beautifully!
Thank you so much! Your responses were prompt and helpful, and most importantly it solved the problem. I am extremely appreciative!
All the best,
Scott

Ian,
I have one more small problem using the newly downloaded and purchased Moneydance 2015 for Mac. When I download Moneydance 2015 to my downloads folder and open it from there everything works fine. However, when I move Moneydance 2015 into my Applications folder and open it from there, I get the message that “Moneydance quit unexpectedly” as shown below. How do I get Moneydance to open up normally from the Applications folder on a Mac?
(When I click reopen I just get this same error message repeated.)
Thanks once more for your help,
Scott

How are you trying to open the program? Does it work if you double-click on the file in your Applications folder? If you are trying to open it from the Dock, it may be that your Dock icon is still pointing to the Downloads folder. In that case, you should remove your icon from the Dock, open Moneydance from the Applications folder, and then select to keep the icon in the dock again.
