Wells Fargo No Longer Connecting
I've used Wells Fargo with MoneyDance for years. However, this morning when I attempted to download transactions, I received a failure notice:
There was an error communicating with your financial
institution. The details of this error are below.
Bank Name: Wells Fargo Bank
The error code reported by the server was: 2000
The bank assures me nothing has changed on their end and I still have access to online banking.
Moneydance Ver 2015.2 (1145)
MAC OSX 10.10.3

We've updated our connection information for your bank, so you should be able to connect now. You will need to disable your current connection to your bank and then recreate it using the New Connection button on the Online Banking Setup screen. To do so, you can follow these steps:
1) Select your bank account in Moneydance
2) Select the Online->Setup Online Banking button/menu
3) Click the Disable button. If you don't see a disable button, continue to step 5.
4) Select the Online->Setup Online Banking button/menu (again)
5) Click the New Connection button and select your bank from the list of available institutions that pops up. Hit OK
6) Continue with the setup process, entering your username/password
7) Repeat steps 1-6 for any additional accounts
Make sure you pick new connection, even though your bank is still one of the connection choices after you disable it. Choosing your bank from the list of available banks will force Moneydance to download the updated information, which should then allow you to connect.
Please let me know if you continue to have connection problems after recreating your connection.

Hi Wayne
I’ve followed the instructions provided. I’m still getting the same results. The application seems like it tries to connect but after about 20 seconds, it fails.

I followed the instructions and get the exact same error during the new connection process.

Same issue. Steps taken:
Tried to disable and recreate the connection, did not work
In the same Moneydance file, tried to set up a new Wells Fargo account, did not work
In new Moneydance file, tried to set up a new Wells Fargo account, worked.
First question is why did it work in a new file and second question is how do I get the new account from the new file into the old file?

Note the steps in the post pointed at below:
When trying to recreate the connect ensure you select new connection and not the connection from the drop down (which I suspect just uses the existing connection information rather than downloading the new information)
The latter posts also provides python scripts in the case the first method doesn't work and it requires a complete resetting of the connection information within the data set.

I would expect it would work in a new file because that file has no connection information in it already.

dwg gives good information on the next steps, which I'll reproduce here for good measure instead of you all having to go to the linked thread.
Just to make sure, when recreating your connection, it's critical to use the New Connection button to reconnect to Wells Fargo. If you just select it from the dropdown, you will not get updated information.
If that still doesn't work, you'll need to force clear the current connection information for your bank in Moneydance. I'm attaching a file called remove_one_service_2015.py (or remove_one_service.py if you are using Moneydance 2014 or earlier) that will help do that. Before proceeding, please back up your Moneydance data set, just in case something goes wrong. You can use these instructions to create a backup:
http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/moneydance-2014/how-to-move-your-da...
except copy your data set instead of moving it, in order to create a backup. So far, this hasn't caused any problems, but better safe than sorry!
To use the file, first save it to your computer and then follow these steps:
Hopefully, that will work. If it doesn't, let me know and we'll continue troubleshooting.

Hi Jesse,
I believe you'll need to force clear the current connection information for your bank in Moneydance. I'm attaching a file called remove_one_service_2015.py that will help do that.
Go to the Moneydance extensions page at http://infinitekind.com/extensions
From the list of available extensions, choose the Python Interface extension. Download it to your computer.
Double clicking on the downloaded extension should open it in Moneydance. If that doesn't seem to work, click an drag the extension directly onto your register.
Next, go to the Extensions menu in the Moneydance menu bar. Choose the Python Interface option.
In the python window, click the read from file button and load the remove_one_service_2015.py file from whereever you saved it. You will be asked to select which connection you want to clear. Choose your bank, and click OK. You'll get a confirmation message when the connection has been removed. Close the window when done.
Set up the connection to your bank like normal. Since all of your settings have been cleared, you should get the most recent connection information for your bank.
Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me with any questions about this process!
