Imbalance to bank statement

I download my transactions from the bank every 10 days or so. I make corrections for check payees as necessary. I do not enter any checks manually; I just download everything directly from the bank. I confirm all the entries. This is the only account I I use moneydance for.
The check register reads the same entries, but the balance goes off vs the bank statement. I don't use reconcile function, just check the bending balance against the bank statement.
A few weeks ago I went through line by line carefully, agonizingly, and found some errors. Today I found an imbalance again that seems to go back earlier than when I reconciled the balance.
Anyone else have this problem? What am I doing wrong?

What sort of errors are you finding?
That may give a clue as to what is going wrong.

I found I had to exclude pending transactions, which I did.
