Setting up Online Banking
Though I am able to log in to my bank account with the same information, when I attempt to set up Online Banking in MoneyDance I am given a message saying it is the incorrect login information. I'm using an "!" as a component of my login. Could that be the problem?

Hi Marlene,
So as to help the support staff in helping you, provide the name of the financial institution and the exact text of the error message.
Keep in mind that your financial institution's OFX direct-connect server is a separate entity from it's web server and may require authorization and separate credentials to connect to it.

Hi Marlene,
Most financial institutions probably have not yet heard of Moneydance and may mistakenly claim that they don't support direct-connect to MD.
Direct-connect, or more accurately, the OFX standard, is the same standard that Quicken uses for direct-connect.
When talking to your financial institution's tech rep, you may need to dance around the issue that you're using Moneydance and insinuate that you're using Quicken so that the tech rep doesn't just blow you off.
Or...
Before talking to your financial institution's tech rep, you may want to scour your financial institution's website for any information regarding connecting to their server via Quicken.

Great! Thanks for the insights, Kevin. We actually used Quicken and had online banking set up…..but we hate Quicken now (sad but true) and are happy to find there is a viable option via MoneyDance.
Thanks again!

Hi Marlene,
Just as an FYI, Quicken can use direct-connect (just like MD). It can also use web-connect; which to the user would appear as the same service.
The difference is that MD does not, as of yet, use web-connect.
The reason that I bring this up is that although you could connect with Quicken before, you may or may not have been using direct-connect to do so. Thus there still may be a requirement to authorize the use of direct-connect.
