Sadly, I've been informed that Citi is dropping Direct Connect for my HHonors card. I'm told that they still will support Web Connect. It is also my understanding that MD does not support this, because of the extreme tech support effort. Is there anywhere I can learn what is involved? I'd love to be able to create a script that duplicates this so that I don't have to manually log in to my account and download transactions every day. Thanks.

    Hello,

You are correct; we have heard the same information about Citi dropping support for direct connect.

In terms of a script that one could write, what Web Connect essentially does is goes though the process of manually logging into your bank's website, downloads your transactions file (probably in a QFX or OFX format, depending on what your bank offers), and imports it into Moneydance. All of that would be the same steps that you would do to manually download and import your transactions in this way.

Since all banks' web sites are different and constantly changing, a script would need to be specific to a particular bank, and be updated whenever the bank changes something on their site, which is the main reason that we as a small company can't provide this service. If you do write a script that will work for Citibank, I imagine many other people would be quite happy if you were to share it here.

I’ll play with an automator script and go public if I get any success!
