Removing Accounts from Online Banking

I've used Moneydance for many years. I've also used Online Banking for much of that time to download (some strange version of) transactions from several bank accounts and two credit card account.

That still mostly works, but I have had to move banks and there are a number of accounts at the old bank which have been closed. I get (innocuous) error messages about them but can't figure out how to remove those accounts from "Download All Accounts". Can you instruct me how to get to those accounts and deactivate them (without messing up the other valid accounts).

Please help.

    Hi --RK,

    Safe computing 101 dictates that before making any critical changes, make a copy or backup of your data file.

    Open Moneydance to one of the accounts in question.
    From the Moneydance menu bar, go to Online > Set Up Online Banking.
    In the resulting 'Online Banking Services' form, click on 'Disable'.

    Repeat for any other accounts that you wish to disable.

    Thanks so much. That did what I needed.

    I'm going to be pushy enough to ask you another question (but feel free to
    tell me to post to the forum instead):

    Since about the time of our exchange, some of the transactions from one
    account (checking) have ended up in the Moneydance account for one of my
    credit cards. There ensues a flurry of moving the transactions manually to
    the correct Moneydance account. Since there are already deactivated
    accounts lurking about I'm inclined to nuke all online banking, and then
    setup the existing correct accounts again from square one.

    Is there a danger in taking this approach? If I "Export backup" will the
    export contain the "online banking" info in case I have to revert. And how
    do I completely zero out the current Online Banking numbers, passwords,
    settings etc?

    Hi Richard,

    I'm not sure that you need to take such drastic measures as nuking all of your online banking setups.

    From your description of transactions from a checking account landing into a credit card account, it sounds like a simple mapping problem.

    I'll assume that the checking account and the credit card account in question are held at the same financial institution. Correct?

    If so, simply disable online banking for those two accounts then rerun the Set Up Online Banking routine for each account again.

    Take your time and make sure when presented with a drop-down list of account numbers that you select the appropriate account number for the account that you are setting up online banking for.

    Again, take you time with this. There are some prompts that may take a moment or two to appear. If you skip over any of them, your account will likely map to the first account in the drop-down list.

    There is no room for error in running the routine.

    I'm not 100% sure if an exported backup contains online banking info. I would assume so but it's been too long since I've resorted to recovering from a backup so I can't remember. :(
