Support for narrow-sighted big bank

As you know, at some point between August 20 and September 18, Wells Fargo broke their credit card qfx file downloads by removing all line breaks from the file so that it is no longer "readable XML".

I looked on here for some help on September 18th and saw that others were challenged with this same problem.

I reached out to the Wells Fargo support department via email and after several false starts over a couple of days they asked me to call them. Frankly I gave up before calling in hopes that since others were having this problem, it would hopefully be fixed before I needed to download next month. Instead I had sat there in the meantime and manually edited the downloaded qfx file to insert the appropriate line returns to just make it work.

Well, I tried downloading earlier this evening for the next month's transactions. Surprise, surprise, it is still broken. So I finally resorted to calling Wells Fargo. The first person I got went to her surpervisor who insisted they had not changed the format of the files being downloaded. She then put me through to the supervisor. He began by insisting that the format had not changed. I told him I was looking at the files and *years* of previous files which were "readable" but that this new one is completely borked. After realizing he was wrong about it changing he simply insisted that it works still in Quicken and Quickbooks and those are the *only* finance software that they support. In fact, he went to try to explain that they only make those changes at Intuit's request. I was incredulous. First, no other financial institution I work with has implemented this change so I doubt Intuit requested it. Second, while I could understand a small, regional bank limiting their support to one vendor, I told him, given all their recent scandals and size, that they would take that stance with me on the phone. I didn't think Wells Fargo could afford to lose yet another customer because of poor customer service.

This long winded background is just to say, that after I furiously hung up the phone, I quickly came back here, and within three headlines in this support forum found a note that said InfiniteKind had made available a "preview" edition of Moneydance that specifically adapted to the WF borked qfx files. While I generally don't like running preview editions for things that are not "job-related" I have been such a happy user of Moneydance for so long that I would give it a shot. That message also very conveniently linked me to the download page for that preview edition.

After confirming a backup of my data I went ahead and installed the preview edition and it imported the borked qfx file flawlessly.

I am just so thankful to be using software from a company that is so attentive and helpful to its users. Thank you for so quickly providing a solution for us!!

You folks rock!!
