My favorite feature: alt + mouse over

I've been using MD for a while now but just discovered a really nice feature:
When viewing the register of an account, if I hold the ALT key down and mouse-over a transaction, it shows me some details of that transaction, including details of any splits. Before that, I was double-clicking the transaction, then doing control-L to see the splits, but ALT + mouseover is a lot simpler!

I just wanted to mention that in case it helps anyone else.
(I'm on linux, not sure if ALT works on all platforms, or maybe they use a different key).

That feature backfires a little. I imported a QFX format file from my bank (it is rare in my country), which has thrown a lot of info - with garbled character - into every transaction. The problem is that I cannot edit these data, they just pop up if I press Alt and hover the mouse over a transaction. I can show these data with "Show Transaction details"

How can I invoke that Split editor from menu? (without Ctrl+L (which is a Calculator when not in edit mode)

Karatedog- to edit any transaction, you should just be able to double click on it and edit any field. To edit a split without using Ctrl+L: When a transaction is in edit Mode click on the category field. At the top of the menu which appears will be a split button. Click on this button to edit the splits within that transactions.

If you're having trouble with imported transactions, it may also be useful to update to the latest preview version of Moneydance. If you are not using the most recent version (2010r2 build 743), please update to that version. You can download the update here. Please let me know if your issue persists and we will look into other solutions.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.

Thanks, I updated to build 743, but the problem persists. When I press Alt, some of the entries contain 3 lines. For a specific entry the Transaction Detail has 6 TAG elements, where I clearly recognize that garbled data.
If I could edit the data in the Transaction Detail window, the problem surely be gone (I know it is not a good idea, as I could fubar the entry)

another suggestion: you should really enable clipboard Copy in the Transaction Detail window :-)

That last statement was not true. Copy/Paste is working now, I must have mistyped something.
