Newbie praise and short question

I recently bought the programme via direct download and I'm very happy with it. I have searched for ages to find a replacement for Money, and this is the best I could find, particularly with the excellent extension allowing forecasting accounts. I do hope this extension continues as it is the main reason I chose MD.

Please could you advise how users are alerted to updates ? I want to make sure I download these ? Also please advise if you charge for updates. Thank you.

   Hi,

   Thanks so much for your feedback, I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your experience with Moneydance.

   We do have an 'Auto Updater' extension, however we've currently removed this to make some improvements. We will be bringing this back, but in the meantime, the best way to stay updated is to subscribe to our blog.

   If you've purchased Moneydance 2015, then MD2016 will be a free upgrade (when available), and any future versions will be discounted for you. However, we never 'sunset' older versions of the software, so you can continue to use the same version for as long as you wish.

   Thanks jenny, sorry to be a bit dense, but how do existing users download new versions ? I note that MD 2015.7 is now available ? Where do I go to get this ? I bought it here, not on Amazon.

   You can download the latest version of Moneydance from here.

   Once downloaded and installed, open Moneydance (the newly installed version) and you'll see the "Welcome to Moneydance" window. Your account set should be visible under “Account Sets” in the right half of the window; select your file and click "Open". If your file isn't listed there, you can click on the "Open Other" button and navigate to your data file.

   Please let me know if you need any further assistance getting this setup.

   The most recent update of Moneydance is 2015.7, build 1358.

   I believe you're using a Mac, so when you download the software, it'll go to your 'downloads' folder by default. You can either open the newer software from this location or move to your Applications folder.

   If your older version of Moneydance is in your downloads folder, the new download will likely be called something like 'Moneydance 2'.

   If your older version of Moneydance is in your Applications folder, when you move the newer version into this folder, you'll be asked to replace the older version of the program.
