Import using CSV
I am using for a while already an ING CSV importer, specially prepared by Milutin Javanovic for me, to import ING Bank transactions.
Lately I noticed (I think since 756) that the matching with existing transactions in the register (not the Reminders, indeed) does not work at all anymore.
It could be the importer, but could also be the import function of Moneydance.
Anybody else encountered this?

The moneydance extension that is for importing CSV files is called the Text File Importer I presume you are using this extension. I am afraid this extension does not mark transactions as unconfirmed when it adds them to the register nor does it pass transactions through the matching engine.
I am sorry that this does not meet your needs.

No, I am using a dedicated CSV importer, called "Import CSV File", but the result is what you describe. However, it was not like that before a certain built, so I guess that something is changed in the mechanism.

Looking at the date on the download page for that extension above it looks like it was released before Moneydance 2010 was released which would imply it was designed for use with Moneydance 2008.
I suggest contacting the developer to see if they have built an updated version to work with Moneydance 2010.

With Moneydance 2015 the "old" importer stopped working, so I implemented the updated version of Dan Towianski.
That imports my ING transactions, but is not aware of debit/credit.
Also the transaction-matching mechanism of the ING-version 12 is not working.
Towianski says that MD should provide that functionality, but I don't know whether that was the case with the "Jovanovic" version 12.
Could you at IK enlighten me on this??

Hi Jaap,
The discussion is private--if you try to view it without being logged in, you won't be able to do so; I just tested this myself.
Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the extension so I don't know how to make it work.

Any information on the matching mechanism? (newly imported against existing transactions in the register)

Hi Jaap,
The matching mechanism tries to guess if the downloaded transactions match manually entered ones by using the check number, description, date, and amount fields. The amount and check number fields weigh high when it makes its guess, with the date and description following.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance!
