Extract data of category account
Hello,
I am a fan user of moneydance. I am looking at extracting an expense category where all the information of each transaction would be available as a report and excel file with in particular initial amount in local currency, forex rate used, final amount converted...
Can you please help me in that regard?
Best
Laurent

Hi Laurent,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
You could use the 'Income and Expense, Detailed' report.
Reports are accessible via Tools --> Graphs and Reports, or in the left side bar (below your accounts).
When viewing the report settings, you can choose the accounts to include and you can specify the date range. The date range can be set as longer than just 12 months.
At the bottom of the report settings window, you'll likely see 'All Income' and 'All Expense'. Choose the button to the right of this - Show: By Individual.
This will display each of your individual categories and you can choose which to include/exclude before generating the report to view your data.
Moneydance can save reports in *HTML, Tab Delimited, Comma Delimited (CSV) and Comma Delimited (CSV), Encoded for Excel) *. This saves the data in a digital format.
"Saved Reports" do not appear in the sidebar. It would be a good idea to store them in an easily found directory on your computer. Generated reports can also be printed, printed to a PDF and stored digitally in a location of your choice.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions or need any assistance.

Thank you for your kind reply.
I tried this report but the detail of a transaction is not available. For example, amount deposited in USD, rate of exchange applied, corresponding EUR amount...
How do I get this level of information for transactions in a specific expense category?

Hello,
I tried this method but it does not show the full details of the transaction with for example the rate of exchange used to convert the amount and the amount converted.
Can you please suggest a report that provides all the transaction details?
Kind regards,
Laurent

I'm a fellow Moneydance user.
It sounds like a Transactions Filter report in two line Mode may be more in line with what you want. It is more like the register.

No this does not give the amount in currency#1, the rate of exchange used and the value in base currency#2
Is there another way to get this very basic report?
Laurent

Extension. Extract data. Extract account registers. To csv. Load in excel. You might just need to extract all, and then filter in excel?
