The term volume as it refers to a stock reflects the days total and not the
closing volume of the market place.
One reason has to do with volume
analysis for investment purposes. For example, an increasing daily total
volume with falling prices is a bearish sign, indicating strong selling
pressure
and market dominance by sellers.
The volume for a given stock would,
therefore, be different coming from
different data bases or markets
(NYSE or Yahoo for example).
Which data base is the most
representative of overall market
volume? I am sure one of them is
considered to be the best. I’m not
certain which one that may be.
