iCloud Sync - is this still an open problem?
I recently decided to get off of Dropbox and centralize on iCloud.
It seems to be working OK except I see noise in the log (below) and the Foresight applet went into refresh spasms (so I removed it).
FWIW attached is the log portion.
I see that there was a problem listed last Fall about iCloud and Sonoma.
The post about that says - don't use iCloud - go back to Dropbox. My question is that still the current advice?

All I will tell you is that if you want fast syncing that always seems to work without many issues, use Dropbox Folders....

PS - that 'noise' is not noise... nor is it a problem... You have console open and that's turning debug on, and that's putting extra messages in the log... They should not appear if you keep console closed.... (but then how do you know!? π )

MD still can not handle the weird "dataless" files that recent MacOS has started using for iCloud. These are confusing as the file appears to be there but actually has no contents until it is downloaded from iCloud. This keeps your local disk from overflowing but is an uncommon behavior for a file system.
If you are not running Sonoma you will not have this issue. If you are running Sonoma you may have some noticeable slow downs and odd behavior.
This goes for "Shared Folder" syncing as well if you use iCloud as the shared folder.

To get an idea of how much extra data you get with the console open do a short Moneydance session with the console open, you can save the console data and close Moneydance. Compare this with the Moneydance error log errlog.txt.

Thanks Stuart. I've gone ahead and rolled back to Dropbox Folders.
Support, please feel free to close the ticket.
