Registration
I've been running Moneydance for about two years and today it says I'm unregistered and won't let me put more transactions in. I found the original key in the email from when I registered, but it claims the key is invalid.

License keys are year specific, for example if you bought 2022, you can use that license key forever for 2022 (and 2023 as you get one major upgrade).
But if you use it for 2024, it will say unregistered as your license key is invalid for that version.
You can either go back to whatever your last license is good for, or you can upgrade for a significant discount, either through "upgrade" on the right side where it says you are registered, or by going to infinitekind.com/update and entering your license key before upgrading.
Hope that helps.

When it tells me to update, I do. So by applying an update my license is
now expired? That's a very poor practice. The software shouldn't be
suggesting updates if they aren't free.
The software is adequate, but not exceptional. I certainly wouldn't want to
pay for it again. I'll use an older installer for the time being.
Thank you for your prompt response,
Dylan

I'm a long-term customer, not Support.
To be clear, the software never 'tells' you to update. It informs you that an update is available. The decidion to upgrade is entirely yours; if the new version does not offer anything you need or want, you ignore it.
The licencing policy (buy 1 upgrade, get next free) has not changed in over 15 years. See https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/purchasing-and-upgrading for full details.

Your license is not expired if you update. It continues to be valid for the two years it is good for - as evidenced by the fact you can simply put a valid version that works with your license back in place.
