    Hello,

What operating system and version of Moneydance are you using?

Sometimes people get an error like that if they try to export a data file to a location where they don't have full read and write access. Try saving the backup to a location where you are sure you have access (like your desktop) and see if that makes a difference.

Hi Ethan,Thanks for your response.I am using Windows 10, MD Version 2024-1 (5118).I am not able to export my MD file to the MD Backup Folder that I have been using for some time as you can see from the attached PNG. When launching MD, it appears there is a Backup File in a folder somewhere, as shownin one of the PNG files. Also I am not able to Restore a Backup File, which I use to sync my laptop (that I am currently using) with my Windows 10 desktop.Hopefully, the attached PNG files will help you trouble shoot the problem. It seems like this started to happen when I upgraded MD.Thank YouHoward

    Hello Howard,

Thanks for the additional information. Can you confirm that you have tried to save the backup file to your desktop as I requested? I don't see that mentioned in your reply. If that works, that would help to narrow down what may be happening.

Sorry I did not let you know. Yes I can backup to the desktop. I tried to move files to the MD Backup folder from there and was not able to do so. I have created a MD Backup folder on the desktop and currently have 2 backup files in it.Thanks

Then there is some problem with the original backup location. Problems can include:

    - Access permissions
    - Not enough space
    - Location not available e.g external media not mounted or not mounted where it is expected to be.

Even though it appears I can save the Export Backup file to the desktop, I have tried to do a Restore from Backup desktop into MD and I still receive an error message and it will not open the file. It use to work smoothly, so I could copy the file from desktop to laptop Any help is appreciated, I sure do not want to go back to Quicken
