I just upgraded (paid) to 2024... yet can't seem to add all the expense and income categories to the Sidebar. This is fairly critical - i use these for error checking etc. I hope this capability hasn't been removed with the upgrade?

The method to add Categories to the sidebar has changed.

Take the Moneydance Menu path Tools -> Categories.

Right click on the category and from the menu select Add to Sidebar.

Thanks; I would like to add them all (100s...). On 3x synced computers... This might be a problem. Is there a bulk add?

There is no bulk add that I am aware of.

Given directly using category registers can be dangerous, my understanding is that the developer wanted to make it so that Category registers would not be easily accessed and as part of this not easily added to the sidebar.

Well that's incredibly frustrating. There is also no quick way to see which categories have or have not been added to the sidebar.

    Overall a step back IMHO.

    Hi Bob,

If you just need quick access to categories, you can add them to the drop-down list in the upper left-hand corner of the Moneydance window. (directly above the left sidebar)

To do so, go into Preferences > General tab > tick the checkbox to 'Show All Accounts in Popup'.

Again, tread lightly when working in a Category register. Their somewhat backwards nature can lead to unexpected results when changes are made.

Thanks Kevin, that has added all Income and Expense categories to the side panel now. Much appreciated.
