Quotes and Exchange Rates

Hi

when are you gong to fix the issue with the Quotes and Exchange Rates attention the as not worked since April of this year?

Always saying unable to get rates for.....

   I use it but does not update my share holdings so meaningless.

   I don’t understand what you mean? QL is able to update stock or currency prices, with or without shareholdings?

   Hi

   Using quote loader does update stock prices etc but does not transfer this
   information to where I have my share holdings if that makes sense. If not,
   I will get a a screen grab when home.

   Sorry. I don’t understand what you mean at all. I have stocks. I only use QL. I use QL to update prices. This updates the value of all held stocks (not qtys of course)

   Ok, thank you. Will leave it at that at look at alternatives. The system
   definitely has changed since April and no longer behaves like it used to. I
   see others have raised similar issues.

   Yes. 100%. The yahoo servers changed and both Q&ER and QL broke in April. QL (third party) has been fixed. Q&ER (IK) remains broken. If you explain in more detail why QL doesn’t work for you, we can help guide you.

   Hi Grant,
   We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.

   I can see you’ve received a reply from one of our knowledgeable Moneydance customers. To add to this useful information I thought it's worth mentioning that normally to update your stock price, you can use either the extension Quotes and Exchange Rate Updater or the Quote Loader. Unfortunately, Yahoo introduced some restrictions that broke the Quote and Exchange Rate extension as well as the Quote Loader extension, initially.

   However, while the development team are working to fix the Quote and Exchange Rate extension, you could use the Quote Loader, as Stuart suggested earlier.

   • To clarify, Yahoo has imposed that if you try to retrieve beyond a certain number of prices, they block access. If you are under the limit on your first run, running Quote Loader again dependant on your number of securities can invoke the block. The block remains in effect for some time before they remove it.

   provides more information and some help in mitigating the issue.

   However due to necessary changes Quote Loader will only work on Moneydance 2022, 2023 and 2024.
   As you own a license of Moneydance 2023/2024, this should be fine for you to use.

   So you could upgrade to Moneydance 2024 and try the extension Quote Loader by navigating to "Extensions->Manage Extension".

   Download the PDF’s attached to post 103 and have a read.

   To get an overview take a look at the YouTube videos by using the links on page 1 and 2 of the PDF.

   The Quick Start Video is intended to give a quick overview so the user can see if Quote loader looks like it could work for them. The Short Video expands the user’s knowledge giving more detail. The Full Video goes even further but may be to wordy for some.

   The PDF reinforces what’s leaned in the videos, provides step by step instructions, a must read and provide answers on how to handle less obvious issues some users may come across.

    If you still encounter a problem with your security then post your base currency, the Ticker, full Security Name and last price you have and its traded currency or just post a screen shot of the Quote Loader windows after you click GET PRICES.
