Download to Chromebook using Linux
I have downloaded to a chromebook, chose to install with Linux, click on the icon and it never loads/opens, just spins. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times. The install takes less than 2 seconds which makes me think something is not right.
I do not know much about Linux.

Moneydance on a Linux subsystem on Chrome was trialed on a proof of concept basis.
The only information I have seen on this follows.
The following was posted on the Moneydance software developers’ Slack site:
"In case anyone here uses a ChromeBook, it's now possible to run Moneydance on them. Also, I've put out our first of many tutorial videos explaining how to load and run Moneydance on ChromeOS. https://youtu.be/pClqlnj3PGw "
Some tome I go I did a little research and put together the following note, how up-to-date it is I cannot say.
It is possible to install Moneydance on a Chromebook (a system running ChromeOS) provide your Chromebook has Linux support, in other words you will be using the Linux version of Moneydance within Chrome’s Linux Subsystem..
As stated you will need to be using a Chromebook that supports running Linux applications and it also requires that your Chromebook be running Chrome OS 69 or later.
Google’s support list will need to be consulted to see if you specific Chromebook is support for this. As of writing, all Chromebooks since 2020 are supported and older supported systems are listed at:
https://sites.google.com/a/chromium.org/dev/chromium-os/chrome-os-systems-supporting-linux
To ensure you are on the latest software version, you can check as follows.
1. Click your profile picture in the lower-right corner.
2. Click the Settings icon.
3. Click the Hamburger icon in the upper-left corner.
4. Click About ChromeOS.
5. Click Check for updates.
Your Chromebook will check to make sure it is on the latest operating system version, and download a new one if necessary. When it is finished downloading, you need to restart your Chromebook to complete any upgrade
You will first need to go into your computer settings, and enable the installation of Linux programs. To do this,
1. Open the ChromeOS Settings app and look for Linux in the left navigation, select this.
2. A new window will appear prompting you to click Install. Do so and the installation will take place.
3. When the installation completes, it will take some time, you will be presented with a terminal window. That terminal window indicates the installation was a success and you are now ready to install apps.
4. You can close the terminal window
After the installation of the Linux support has completed, go to the Moneydance main download page. Choose the download link for the Linux DEB file.
After the download is complete, use the Launch button navigate to you download folder and double click on the downloaded file, and Moneydance will install.
Once Moneydance is installed and you should find it ready to run in your Chrome OS desktop menu
You can delete the installation file, once Moneydance is successfully installed.
A short video on this process can be found at:

Using Moneydance on ChromeOS
After successfully installing Moneydance with the above instructions, you should be able to run Moneydance in the same way as you run other programs on your ChromeOS. Note that programs running in Linux mode often have a higher power usage than ones designed specifically for ChromeOS, so you may want to close Moneydance when you are not actively using it.
Some users have reported confusion around things like manual downloads from banks. After downloading transactions in a file, it can be difficult to access that file in Moneydance. The reason is that the Linux and ChromeOS parts of your computer are generally kept separate, including where files are stored. Linux and its applications are kept in a container separate from ChromeOS and its application. To access these downloads in Moneydance, go to the folder where you saved the download using the ChromeOS My Files app. Depending on your system, you can either drag the file into the “Linux files” folder, and/or right-click on the file and choose to Share with Linux. Returning to Moneydance, you should then be able to go to File → Import and navigate to the shared file.
Note that you may have to go through a similar process in reverse if you want to move your data file from the Linux container through the ChromeOS, like if you want to move your data file to a new computer.
