Hi,

I am having a problem getting Money Dance to download transactions from my credit card (Citi Cards). I get a parsing error message that instructed me to disable the account then re-establish the connection. This did not work. Any help is greatly appreciated. I can be reached at 858-342-7654.

Thanks,

Dustin

Citi Cards (Costco Visa) has been problematic for the last couple of weeks. Not sure what is going on, but I get 500 (server error), 403 (forbidden) and an occasional 0 (not connected). Since it fluctuates, rather than doing a "download all accounts", I go to that account, and do either CMD-D or click the "Download" button at the top left.

I've found that I might still get these errors, but strangely enough, if I try again 2-3 times (like 1 minute apart), then I might get a successful download (after quite a few seconds delay). If not, I do that again like an hour later.

Not a desirable answer, but at least the download occurs.

Don't yet have enough info to know what is happening overall.

I just tried downloading (several times) the one Citi Cards Costco Visa account using the method you described. I am now wondering if I somehow messed up the account when I followed the instructions to disable the account then refresh/re-establish when I first received the error message. The reason I think this is I now have 2 accounts to choose from, the first is listed as Citi cards xxxxxxxxxxx6480, the other just says Citi cards. I tried to download using both.

Sounds like you did mess something up. You also may not have them linked properly now. Are you using OFX direct connect or MD+ to connect?

I haven't had to disconnect to make the above work, (I use OFX direct connect) but you probably should blow away both connects (possibly using toolbox) and start from scratch on this account - and yes - you'll probably still have the problem you started with, but maybe then you can have eventual success.

I am using OFX Direct. Will I lose my data if I delete the 2 connects?

No. The connects are what "connects" to the bank, and also to one of your accounts. If you disable the connect, normally you could then reconnect, but now you have two of them, which could be diagnosed, but might be easier to get rid of them and recreate one.

Your data stays both at the bank and in your account. BUT OF COURSE, do a backup of your data (use Export Backup) because you never know when something incorrect might be done (like DONT delete the account itself!!! Then you would lose data)

One important point is when you recreate a connection, allow the bank to provide you the account number to choose. The issue here is the connection seems very iffy right now, so you may have similar issues reconnecting as you have been having trying to download.

Conversely, if you'd rather not start over, go to the OFX connections, insure they are pointing to the right place. Maybe you could just disable the new one, since the older one seemed to be working. In fact, that might the best place to start trying.

btw i'm just a user trying to help out, so consider that as part of my suggestions. I'm pretty adept at this, but you do need to think about what you do and how you do it.

Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate the helpful response. If I
can’t get it to work on OFX, I’ll try money dance+. Thanks again.
