System Rest
I have an issue with my computer. Some how I got the developer version of Windows 11 24H instead of 23H. The only way to get back to 23H is a total system reset. IF we do this, how do I get my money dance back. Will my back up data be on the cloud or can I burn a dish with this data so I can make my Moneydance back to date. Do you have any suggestions. Will I need my Moneydance password. If so I will need a copy of it.

Do you use a password to open moneydance now? If so, remember it.
Then file/export backup. Copy the xxx.moneydancearchive file to usb flash drive.
Also copy the config.dict file. Less important. Or just go to help/register and copy your license number.
Then after windows restore. Reinstall moneydance. Then file / restore backup. Restart md. Help/register moneydance.

Hi Jay,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
Launch Moneydance and navigate to Help->Show Backup Folder or navigate to:
C:\Users\yourname.moneydance\archive\backups
Next to your backup file name, you should see: Date modified, Type and Size.
You can copy/move the file to your USB drive and move it back to your computer later.
Then, you should download and install Moneydance 2023.3 (5064)
Additionally, the files with a - .moneydancearchive file extension can be restored into Moneydance by double clicking them.
Alternatively, choose File --> Restore from Backup (or 'Import New Account Set' from the Welcome window). Then navigate to and select the backup file.
Lastly, if you'd like to re-name the restored file, you can follow the steps in this article of the Knowledge base.
It's important you close the Moneydance program fully before you make any changes.
Then rename the data file. You should retain the .moneydance file extension at the end of the file name.
Please keep us posted on your progress, Thank you!

Yes, you can!
In order to amend the backup file settings, you can choose Moneydance --> Preferences, then select the 'Backups' tab, as outlined in this article of the Knowledge Base.
From this window, you can amend the backup location, and choose the maximum number of backups to be stored.
You can also create manual backup files whenever you require, and store these files in a location of you choice. To create a manual backup file, you should choose File --> Export Backup. This will create a .moneydancearchive backup file - the same format as the auto backup files.
