download chase visa activity into MD
I want to use Moneydance but am having difficulty figuring out
if I can download VISA chase credit card activity in MD. Previous
discussions advised that this is possible but only if you first
activate your VISA account to enable download into quicken or
Microsoft Money.
I have done that successfully but then VISA chase only gives you
the following options to download - 1) intuit quicken web connect
QFX; 2) quicken QIF; 3) quickbooks IIF; 4) quickbooks web connect
QBO; 4) microsoft money; and 5)comma separated values CSV. I phoned
CHASE online support but they don't recognize Moneydance and it was
no help.
If anyone can provide some further guidance it would be very
appreciated.

You will want to select Intuit quicken web connect QFX (although options 2 & 4 will also work). If the QFX file extension is associated with the MD program, the download will ask you a series of questions and then download the transactions. If this is your first download, you will likely get several months of data - this is normal. You should merge these transactions with your existing transactions so that you will not end up with duplicates.

Gigi, Did you try using the "Online/Set Up Online Banking" option from the Moneydance menu? I did this with my Chase Visa account and am able to download transactions very easily using direct connect.

This really depends on what type of relationship she has with Chase. There are three possibilities: 1) Credit Card only, 2) Credit Card and Checking (pay fee), 3) Credit Card and Checking (no fee). If she is Credit Card only she can set it up within Moneydance for Direct Connect. If she is a Checking and Credit Card holder, Chase charges $9.95 month for Direct Connect otherwise your only other choice is to download a file and Intuit Quicken Web Connect is the preferred method.
