I am not sure that this description gives enough for an intelligible response.
The beginning balance of an account is set in the account settings when the account is created. It does not change.

I think you referring to during a reconciliation.
The beginning balance is calculated, if it is wrong it means there is an error in the transactions. The last part of the following Knowledge Base article talks about possible causes:
