Investment Transactions Report Some Actions Don't Work
I am using version 2024.1 5122.
When actions Buyxfr, Sellxfr and DivReinvest are selected as filters in the Investment Transaction report, nothing is reported. Why is this? I use a lot of Buyxfr and Sellxfr transactions for several valid reasons. These are very useful actions indeed. It would be very helpful to be able to generate an investment transaction report that include these actions.
I did see a previous post where it was recommended to use a combination of DIV and BUY for a dividend that is reinvested, but why do that if there is a combination action provided? It is a lot of work to go back and modify many, many valid transactions just for the sake of reporting, yet the reporting is needed. Is there a version of MD where this is working? Is it just not possible to code this fix? I have been using MD for 9 years.
Thanks, Henry

These work for me both in 5118 and 5169... Please send a screen shot of the report settings and also a transaction that you would expect to see?
There is no need to do two separate div and buy txns!
NOTE: This action search only appeared in the 2024 series of MD updates...

Hi Stuart,
Here's a screen shot of a DivReinvest action. I will also send another that shows a Buyxfr or Sellxfr.
The top window is the investment register set to search the date where the dividend was entered. The second window is the transaction report result. And the third is the report settings when using the EDIT button.
Thanks, Henry

Hi Stuart,
This is one where there is a buy, sell, div and buyxfr. The buyxfr does not show up as can be seen.
Thanks, Henry

Hmm. You have a lot of ‘ands’ in this filter. What happens if you just select the action and date?
Can you make a small test dataset that demonstrates this issue and upload a backup of it?

OK, I just tested this. The problem is the amount... A DivReinvest has a next cash value of zero.. Your filter is between 0.10 to 1000000.00.

Ditto for the SellXfr and BuyXfr..
I'm inclined to say that this is NOT a bug and that this is fine.... Otherwise where do you start looking for values? The actual dividend amount>? The fee? etc etc

Hi Stuart,
That was actually a very good suggestion! It turns out the dollar amount range seems to be causing the issue. I had set it up to be 0.1 on the minimum, and for the BuyXrf and DivReinvest transactions. Disabling the amount filter allowed the transactions to be listed in the report.
However, now I am seeing something else that I don't quite understand. For example, in the DivReinvest, the amount of the transaction is 738.60 in the register, but in the report now it is 0.00. Similar for the BuyXfr. The amount transacted in the account register is 2,207.92, but is 0.00 in the report.
The transaction amounts are being transferred into a category for these actions, but they definitely are not 0.
The category for the BuyXfr is not showing up in the investment transaction report. But, the category is showing up for the Div action.
I also did play around with the settings in the amount filter. Setting the minimum amount to 0 allows BuyXfr to show up in the report, but a -1 did not. While not in this particular example, I do have transactions that are negative amounts in my portfolio. What is the purpose of the amount filter?
Is there a good explanation for this?
