Switch from National City to PNC Online Banking issue

I'm currently using Moneydance 2010r2 (741) for the Mac with OS X 10.6.3. Like several others on the list, my National City checking and savings accounts were recently converted to PNC accounts. I was hoping that I could simply go though "Set Up Online Banking" and change the online banking setup to PNC bank, put in the new account number, online banking password and begin downloading transactions. No joy. It appears that my online banking password via the web is different from a password that would be used through Moneydance.

I received information from PNC about online banking that indicated that they would be mailing me a PIN separately "in a few days." Is this PIN needed to download transactions? During the Online Banking Signup in Moneydance, would I use that PIN as my "current password" and change it to a new password? They also indicate that the "Customer ID" is my social security number. I wasn't sure whether to use the SSN or my online banking user ID in the User ID field in Moneydance? A couple of screens later they do ask for the Customer ID (along with routing number and account number), so I assume I would put in SSN for that Customer ID field?

Many thanks in advance for any help with this issue--I tried contacting PNC online banking, and I made the mistake of mentioning that I was using Moneydance--I got the rapid and expected response of "We don't support that--have a nice day".

Best regards,

John

I too have just been switched from Nat. City to PNC. Your questions:

Is this PIN needed to download transactions?
That's right: you need your new Customer ID and PIN to use online banking with PNC

During the Online Banking Signup in Moneydance, would I use that PIN as my "current password" and change it to a new password?
Right: for security, your first "online banking" session should be a PIN change.

They also indicate that the "Customer ID" is my social security number. I wasn't sure whether to use the SSN or my online banking user ID in the User ID field in Moneydance?
    Right again: use your SSN

A couple of screens later they do ask for the Customer ID (along with routing number and account number), so I assume I would put in SSN for that Customer ID field?
    Right.

I was able to change my PIN, so I know I'm connecting. But Moneydance reports an (unspecified) error when I try to download transactions. I haven't gotten as far as Online Bill Pay yet...

Well smack my mouth: I got it to download transactions once I put the proper account number in. I had transposed 2 digits. Duh!
