Moving transaction from one account to another?
Ok, I live in Peru, and use a foreign currency. I was entering transactions in the local currency (PEN) and switched the the USD cash account entered it, and forgot to switch back. Entered a few in the US$ account, and wanted to switch them. I selected the transaction, Batch Change -> Account -> and the foreign account is not in the list! So, how can I get the transactions into the other account besides manually re-typing them in? This happens often so while I will re-type now, I would like to know for the future how to fix this. Thanks.
Shane

Hi Shane
Moneydance does not have the functionality to batch change a transaction between accounts if those accounts are in different currencies. I understand why you would want to do it in the situation described and in general such a movement of transactions can cause a great deal of confusion.
I am afraid that you will have to enter the transactions in the correct account by hand.
I am sorry for the inconvienience.
Sincerely
Ben Spencer

I can certainly understand with the exchange rate why that would be such a problem. Why couldn't I just cut the transaction and paste it into a new account? I tried that too, and it didn't work. I would think if it was just a straight cut and paste, it would avoid the currency conversion stuff. Which would be fine in my case, because the totals of the transaction were put down in PEN and not in US$ so it made my US$ cash account look really bad, but just a straight cut and paste method would have worked fine in this case. The problem, is that this happens when I'm recording receipts for my cash accounts and switch back and forth from PEN to USD often. Just suggestions that perhaps could be instituted into future versions.

Shane,
Thank you for your suggestions for improvements to Moneydance. I've added this issue to the list of potential features for us to discuss at our next staff meeting, as I think you have a good point in terms of a feature which would be helpful for many of our multi-currency users. Admittedly, I am not a programmer and don't know how simple (or complex) it would be to institute this feature, but it's certainly worth considering.
Our feature request and bug reporting system is integrated with our wiki. We invite our users to register and use these systems to help improve Moneydance by bringing bugs to our attention and requesting new features. Users can also vote on tickets, which helps us determine how wide-spread bugs are and which requests have the most demand.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.
