Find and Replace no longer working
Just updated MoneyDance today to v2024.2(5172) from v2024.1 on Windows 10 desktop. I imported 285 transactions to MD OK via a csv file using the Extension - Text File Importer.
PROBLEM - I have been using the Extension - Find and Replace without problems since 2007 to assign a category for a transaction until TODAY! The default for Combine Criteria: is And (Intersection). When this is checked I get no search results on my date range and my Free Text search text. If Or (Union) is checked I get every transaction in the database back to 2007.
Uninstalling and reinstalling Find and Replace did not resolve the problem. I really really rely on Find and Replace and see no alternative. Also the "User Guide" Build 1218 is not accessible.
thanks for letting me know what's been changed... -Bonnie

HI Bonnie,
You are obviously very experienced with F&R (2007) but still, perhaps a screenshot of your settings may shed some light on what may be amiss.
You are correct about the 'User Guide'. I was able to locate an archived copy here.

Turns out Find and Replace is working OK, but the cause of the problem was the Text File Importer did not upload field #7 which contains "Memo" data (category description). At this time unable to determine the reason why the "Memo" field failed to upload and all other fields loaded OK. Will try another test with a different file.

The Text file importer extension is quite old and hasn't been updated in some time.
Text files have to be delimited by some character, normally a comma. The inbuilt importer can handle such files and the user written CSV import is a more robust approach with the ability to save definition files for regularly imported data.

Testing Text File Importer on 3 transactions (csv file separated by commas) failed to upload the memo field after the v2024.2(5172) update.
Can you direct me to the "inbuild importer", or is it another Extension called CSV Importer?
thanks, Bonnie

Hi Bonnie,
For information on Moneydance's built-in importer, look to the following Moneydance KB article. https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/online-banking-and-bill-pay/i...
The CSV Importer extension is available from the Extensions menu. Click on 'Manage Extensions' so as to be able to install it.
If you need help setting up the CSV Importer extension, let me know and I'll try to lend a hand.
