Cannot restore Backups
Having recently upgraded to the latest version of Moneydance (And Windows 11 24H2) I have observed that I cannot Export a Backup, or Restore a back. I keep getting an error report "Cannot read file C:\Program Files\Moneydance\ (Similar for Backup).
What I find interesting is that my Moneydance Backups, as set up via Preferences >> Backups, is on my D drive, in a folder MoneyDance Backups, in My Documents folder
I do note that the identity (name of each backup is very long.
This issue was not present prior to the tow updates (Windows & Moneydance)
Appreciate your advice

Supplementary information:-
The following is a typical example of the name of a backup; as created automatically on closure of Moneydance:-
Moneydance Backup (10)_2024-03-01_2024-03-29_2024-04-18_2024-04-18_2024-04-21_2024-05-10 2_2024-05-25_2024-06-15_2024-08-02_2024-08-27_2024-10-09_2024-10-10_2024-10-16_2024-10-17_2024-10-17_2024-10-23.moneydance
The contents of the Backup and Documents folders are very similar; the former being limited to 5 backups
The Documents folder is in the original location, unchanged; images of both are attached
Looks to me as if the same information is repeated in both folders.
I had thought of performing a clean uninstal of Moneydance, but am a little concerned that I would not be able to recover my extensive data

I believe that I have resolved the issue.
I copied the Moneydance Backup Folder onto a memory stick which I removed from my PC
Thereafter I completely uninstalled Moneydance, removing all traces from my PC (e.g deleting traces in the registry, User’s and Program folders).
Thereafter installing a clean download, after restarting my PC.
As soon as the Welcome screen opened, I connected the memory stick, with the Moneydance Backup, restoring the backup to my D drive.
Thereafter, selecting Other, and navigating to the backup.
All of my financial information was restored.
Furthermore; there are no issues with exporting, or restoring using backup facilitie
The only outstanding issue is the very long back names; I haven't discovered if such are detrimental, or how to shorten
I hope that this may be helpful to others

The default name for a backup is the name of your account set with a date/time stamp appended so it should not be all that long. Usually the only time it becomes extended is if you make a backup, restore a backup and repeat that cycle without taking any action, there is no real justification for repeatedly doing this.
You rename an account set outside of Moneydance by using your systems File manager, so using programs like Explorer, Finder etc. The Toolbox extension also has the capability.

And just to add a bit to dwg's explanation, an extremely long file name can cause a variety of issues on Windows systems. It's almost certain that the length of the file name was the reason that you couldn't open the file. After you have restored your file, ensuring that you only open an active data file and not a backup each time should prevent this from happening again.
