Hello hello,

I have created a new set of accounts. The menu available on the left side are "BANK" and "GRAPHS & REPORTS" and nothing else...

I need to have the "EXPENSE" and "INCOME" categories available and listed for review and they do not appear by default. When I click the sign "+" at the bottom I can't add anything, there are no available items.

How do I get the "EXPENSE" and "INCOME" categories on the left menu?

Because Categories are not really accounts and treated differently. The category registers are the backend of a double entry bookkeeping and should probably not be messed with on a regular basis.

If you need to summarize a category, then reports is where you should look.

So categories and accounts are very very close but they are different parts of the Tools menu and not able to be added to the left hand menu.

They can be added but I would caution against doing so. They should not be directly interacted with unless you really know what you are doing.

Use the Moneydance menu option Tools -> Categories, right clicking on any category will give an option to Add it to the sidebar.

A final word of warning, make a mistake when you are in a category register and you may well have to restore from a Backup.
