Current version 2014.2 (5172). System is Linux Mint (21.3). Trying to print a single check. Select the transaction. Enter {Print} in the Check# field. From menu select File, Print Checks. Get the message "No checks need to be printed". Two things different since I last printed a check 1) New version of MoneyDance 2) new printer (had to retire failed old one).

    Hi Allen,
We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.

When creating transactions, you should assign the 'Check' field as {Print}.
When you choose File --> Print Checks, this will include any transactions that have this field assigned.

You can choose 'Calibrate Printer' so the check fields fit onto your checks. These fields can also be amended via File --> Preferences --> Check Printing (as seen in this article).
Specify the 'Check Type' at the top, and then further amend the field settings below. Then 'Print Test Page' to ensure the fields are aligned before you begin to print on the Checks.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

Solved. The clue in your response was "create" transaction. Apparently you
can't print a check from an existing transaction. I was updating the Check#
field on the transaction I created in August when I got my Tax bill
(payment due by end of year). It worked when i created a new transaction
and copied the information from the August transaction. I don't understand
why I can't print a check for an old transaction, but as a retired software
developer I understand that things are always more complicated than they
    appear.

    Thanks for your support.
