After internet download of cards - how to accept all
I've downloaded my credit card transactions and now I want to record / accept them into the register. I am hoping there is a way to record all and I don't need to record them line by line.
I've tried the normal windows method to mark a group but that doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Hi John
I am afraid that accepting all transactions from a download is not currently a feature of Moneydance. I understand how frustrating and time consuming the process of accepting them line by line is. However the 2009 version of Moneydance will allow all transaction to be accepted in a single action. The 2009 version will definitely be released before the end of the year and is a free upgrade to MD2008 users.
Sincerely
Ben Spencer

I look forward to any and all improvements.
I am a very heavy user of this type of software. I am finding that compared with Quicken, with MD, there is a lot of extra mouse and keystrokes. Example, in Quicken if a transaction is memorized, the next time it is input the class (what you call tag) is automatically inputted. I just sat here and inputted a lot of expenses, many were recurring such as gasoline. It was very frustrating to need to use my mouse on each tag. My mouse hand was getting tired. The tag field should at least have an intuitive self filling mechanism. It should also allow new tags to be manuall inputted and made new from the manual input.
You should have a choice to automatically memorize or choose to memorize. A database can get very bloated when it memorizes every key stroke.
I am still trying to figure out how to do a report on a supplier that I write checks to. I should be able to get results on all expense or income on (example) ATT. If find transaction had a search spot for description, I could search for it. In QUicken I give a mouse click and I can quickly run a report on the payee (MD calls description).
There is a big quirk that I made a work around. When you are importing a QIF from quicken and if the accounts had transfer notations, MD will have strange results. Example: in quicken I had a mortgage amortization set up. Quicken would separate the interest portion for tax purposes. Quicken made a liability account called interest and one for the mortgage holder. These accounts were part of the QIF import. If I delete the account named Interest, the checking account balance reflects the removal. In Quicken I can remove the account and there is no change to the checking balance. At a later date I would want to remove the Interest Account in MD but it would throw off the checking balance.
I will keep using MD but truthfully for efficiency, I will need to continue to use Quicken for a while. I paid for MD and that is fine because it is a work in progress. I see some good ideas and hopefully some of my business owner needs will be addressed in 2009.
My AMEX business management card had over 100 downloaded expenses. Needing to click on each one was a task and I am glad to hear that it will be fixed in 2009.
Sorry to have so many suggestions. I have more but I am sure you are already working on them. Kind of like shortcuts such as Ctrl F for find. I get the feeling that the developer likes to use the mouse more than I.
Keep up the good work.

You can select "Subtotal by Payee" in a transaction report. Do the by changing the drop down box hat by default is set to "Don't Subtotal". Using this in conjunction with the field of the transaction report you should be able to get most of what you want.
With regard to removing accounts. It is the case that removing an account will delete both sides of all transactions that use that account. It is not clear to me what behaviour you would like to see here. A transaction has to have two sides. Are you saying that if you delete the interest account in Quicken the transaction still exists in the checking account?
Sincerely
Ben Spencer
